For my birthday, my sister and my dad got me two colouring in books and a 36 coloured pencil set from WH Smiths... working through it now! :D

Think i know the pens your on about,, almost went into cardiac arrest when i saw the price. What i wondered was how it gradually goes back to the lighter shade

I find you can't get into the corners with pens, me and my fat fingers struggle with fine motor skills,and with a pencil, you can always rub it out

they do need constant sharpening though which is a pain in the bum!

lol i must admit the 'pat on the back' from friends/family is a feel good factor.. but like lickety said abouve i can shut off and just go into auto pilot when colouring

luckily in 'animal kingdom' by millie marotta there arent to many big blocks.. if there were id fill the space with patterns that id create.. (either zig zags, dots, spirals, a hash pattern)

Ocd time lol!

I get a white piece of paper and a normal pencil draw a big squiggly pattern on it the color in the different spaces but no space can lean on another space of the se color or i have a tantrum rip it up n start again

I got some colouring felt tip pens from WH Smith's today and they are much better for detail! Working on an incan pattern now

That could be fun. You draw something on the wall and I could colour it in.

The news report shows people colouring in in groups. This defeats the point of doing it for me.

I have found some of the more expensive books in Sainsbury's for half the price.

oh not seen any reports on our news.. i havee the millie marotta books and the group im a member of on facebook has just posted a linkk to a bbc new piece that covered her work (she is from Wales)

Her books have earnt her £6 million or something,, great business!

I started with Stabilo Fineliners 88.. and had a roll up pack with 25 vibrant colours.. they didnt bleed through to the other pages and i didnt have to use any pressure to get a strong colour

Ive since progressed and experimented with pencils (just crayola and WHSmiths own brand for now) and loving the ability to blend tones together.

My mother has a higher class of pencil some 'Faber Castell Polychromos' pencils.. more expensive but just feel WOW to use

Not sure if anyone has mentioned them, earlier up the thread. There are adult colouring-in books (not that kind, filthy person) Secret Garden by Johanna Basford, is a great one, with some lovely drawings.

There are £1 pads from the Poundshops through to the fully bound books at £9.99 - £14.99 from stationers and bookshops. Some of these are the ones I have see in Sainsbury's at half price.

I love Johanna Basfird's books! Can't wait for the new one (Under the Ocean).

I've coloured in even since I was a child. As a teenager my Mum bought me an Altair Design pattern book and that sealed my fate. I find it so relaxing.

I have a couple of colouring books I really like, but I've not been able to find many felt tip pens I get on with. Most are too hard and scratchy. That means I'm limited to about 25 colours, which isn't much variety.

There are some gorgeous TomBow artists brush pens in a zillion colours but at £2-3 each, they're out of my price range.

I've got some Djeco double ended brush pens from Hobbycraft. They were £8 for a set of 10 and they're nice. It's still quite expensive for felt tips, but not as bad as £3 each. They only do 3 different sets though and a few colours are duplicated.

I've been considering the Stabilo 68 pens.

Honestly, 42 years old and excited by felt tip pens...

Ladies as you all seem to be in the know can you still get the things I described earlier .

They used to come in like packs of 4 I think they were like card board and the characters on them instead of being printed lines were made from like a soft fluffy velvet stuff .

thank god there was a works in Poole so they could buy their own flipping books!!

My nephew was so engrossed in his, every moment he could he was colouring.
