I may start one tomorrow about the memories of 7th july 2005... which will be a much sadder thread

anyway on the 6th july 2005... London won the vote to host the 2012 Olympic Games

so this was me on that day...

1255... oooh london or paris for the olympic games

1300... yey!!! London Wins the Olympic Games.. Screw you Frenchies

1305.... Shit!! London actually won the Olympic Games

1310... Fuck!!! London Won the olympic games... and they are going to build it on my doorstep!!

1315.... Fuckity Fuck.... London are going to find a way to screw this up on the biggest stage!

I am sooooo Glad I was Wrong!!!

So... How did you feel on the day we won the games....

I was in Camden market having lunch when the news came .... you could hear cheering from all around. We hopped on tube to trafalgar Sq to soak up the buzz ... great day and my buff day

Slightly related, I was flying back into the UK the night of the closing ceremony.

Only a dozen people on board.

Out pilot, got to love BA, gives us plenty of notice, tells us to sit where we like and banks the plane as we fly overhead and we all get a fantastic view of the closing ceremony.

I suspect most people thought it would be a disaster and were genuinly elated that we'd made such a success if it.
