I'm shit with names, so I sympathise. I've called colleagues I've worked with for years by the wrong name.

Depends on whether you've corrected him or not before. Me and names never go together in the memory

I tend to call all blokes 'sweet' as my memory can be shocking

Went for a job inter_iew the other week and the guy kept getting my name wrong despite me telling he three times.

And him having my cv with name on it.

Disrespect or intentional?

Didn't take the job offer!

Herts

No doubt he's speaking to other people as well as you and probably got his wires crossed.

It was only the once, give him a break.

I'm shit with names. I call everyone "Dude".

I'm rubbish with names! I doubt he meant to cause offence and if you get on otherwise, I'd not hold it against him.

I'm really good with names, but I realise everyone is not as perfect as me so I don't hold it against them

Brighton - even Hove!

He's a guy and forgot his name. I do it too. Sometimes after months I can't remember names. It wasn't intentionally disrespectful. What you could have done was corrected him with a new name each time until he realises.

No, I think your reading to much into it

I often go through all my kids names before I get to the right one

means nothing

Was it the first time he's got it wrong? Has he used the right name all times previously? If it's a one-off it's very easy to make a faux pas and I bet he's mortified. I often get names accidental muddled with no ill intention.

If you've politely corrected him and THEN he does it again (once bitten, twice shy and all that!) then that's when I think it becomes a little disrespectful. Only my opinion though.

Interesting

Why do you see it as disrespectful, is it as a pushing him aside mindset or just that the mistake was made

If former I agree but you should correct and give a chance before condoning,

If the latter then no, its an easy mistake to make especially,

A minor issue surely, hardly the faux pas of the decade. When we stay in Turkey, everyone calls Mr Cantilevered 'John' anyway, regardless of the fact that his name is Pat. Likewise in Ireland, my proper name can end up with anything from 1 to 4 syllables when they've finished with it. A man from Cork once ended up in A&E with a knotted tongue and advanced dementia after trying to say my name too many times.

I would tell him you are irked by it, allow him an opportunity to address it.

then, if it happens again.....

end the drama

I realise that joke may work better if my user name was actually 'Screw Don', but there you go...
