i dont.

if someone for some reason believes a story from someone else and not you side.

then they are no friend at all.

better off without them.

If you have to lie to keep friends then there is something wrong.

What about the little compliments we pay to people that we perhaps do not really mean?

I am curious to find out what people consider acceptable - personally I would be too straight to tell fibs and anybody who knows me would tell from my face anyway, so could not get away with it

I would never lie to a friend...I may withhold information I believe that the knowledge would cause more harm than good or would cause pain, but even that is limited and I can't think of any time I'd had to go with that.

I can't lie to my best friend....for a start I'd laugh at any lie I'd need to tell her and secondly, she could spot it a mile away and would then proceed straight to skelping me one round the heid!

Yep... if you can't be honest it's best to say nothing... until asked.

If they are a friend you should be able to be honest with them.

If your friendship relies on you having to lie to maintain it.... what sort of friendship is it and what sort of person are you!

If a friend confided in me something and asked me not to repeat..... then i never would. This however is totally different from some one actually asking you to lie for them. Iwould always discuss before them first, and if i disagreed with them i would also tell them my thoughts. I feel if you are a true friend you can always say what is on your mind, even if you don't agree, thats true friendship......

Actually I can really see your point - with sensitive people you have to choose your wrosd carefully. Personally I prefer being told the straight truth rather than euphemisms masking the facts.
