Twat!

I received a text back a long and at the end of it they put.... You twat!!!

To my horror I thought they were calling me a twat in a horrible way!

Unbeknown to me it's actually a nice-ish term up North!

What other sayings are there that I should be aware of

No. It isn't a niceish term up north.

It might be acceptable in some circles.

Depends on yourself I guess.

Anyone called me a twat I wouldn't be endeared.

I wasn't impressed at first, until they said its normal to call someone that there. If we call someone a twat down south it's not being nice

But it's not the norm.

I don't know anyone who says it to be fair, Unless we are relating stories about really vile people.

It's the kind of things mates say to each other in banter.

Anyone who used it in a pm on here wouldn't get very far - who uses the insults you give to established friends in the pub to someone you're hoping to get intimate with?

Ill-judged and potentially offensive.

Anyone who lives in my part of the world or who is northern generally, will know that all swear words and all filthy words can be used in a jokey way. It all depends on the context. This can easily get lost in a text. As any northerner will know we are constantly joking and taking the piss out of each other. It fills up most of our lives. You just accept it. It's how we are. You southern cunts are pretty miserable fuckers so wouldn't understand this!

OP you are most definitely the most beautiful twat I know!

A lot of swear words are terms of endearment up here. We claimed them as our own after being looked down on for so long.

Little shit is what we call our kids when they've been naughty (but we find their bad behaviour funny or rebellious).

There's a character on that show that ends sentences with "you twat" .. I would guess they were mimicking that! In which case I'm pretty sure it was, as you say, said in a friendly way!
