"Strange how there aren't any fly on the wall programmes about MP's on expenses, Bankers on bonuses or Royals on 'Trade Missions' " Indeed. Or programmes that depict the vulnerable people who's lives would be blighted without help from state spending. It amazes me how people get a lump in their throats when watching the suffering of needy people on comic relief, children in need etc, but yet are happy to allow exactly the same people to be labelled as undeserving scroungers by politicians and media.

If he's working and paying tax here he's entitled to them. " A group of Romanians came over here, the house and their fares paid for by their clan leader. He gave them a job of collecting scrap metal, through self-employment, so they could then get a national insurance number so they could claim benefits.

"What I do not understand is why on earth are they letting members of some of the EU groups through, then not having a safety net for them. Its heart breaking. Not surprised some turn to theft. Unless they are asylum seekers, then the benefits systems is literally closed to them. If they have children, they can claim child benefit and child tax credits, that is all for a period of at least 14 months. If they find employment, they work all hours and are often exploited. Food banks are their salvation. They are treated like scum and not a priority by the authorities. So don't buy into the medias version." They are not deemed as a non priority they are deemed as non eligible for social housing and will be referred to the no recourse to public funds team who will either help with their immigration or will help them return home.

"To all the liberal progressive posters who think unchecked migration is desirable. Answer one question with a detailed analysis of how it might be affordable. " wtf where does anybody say that they don't but hey no doubt your one of these who think the "scrounges " are bleeding us dry ? Think you need to go look at the whole benefits spend the vast majority is for housing benefit for low paid workers and tax credits . Now ask your self who's benefitting from subsidys to low wages and high rents ? Greedy landlords and greedy employers that's who but hey don't let the truth get on the way of a good right wing lie

"Of course they should work if they are able to, and not rely on benefits. I am never disputing that. As for the idle British, could not agree more, especially when they do not have any barriers to overcome. How easy is it for some of them, (EU), to secure employment? Not at all easy. Speaking as a black Briton, who was born here, it is difficult. " You will find that most of the immigrants that come over here do find jobs pretty quickly over here because they do the jobs that most British born people think is beneath them.

This is the main issue with the EU, you wouldn't find people complaint about freedom of movement if it had stayed just the economical and culturally similar nations (Norway, Sweden, France Germany Italy, Denmark, Holland etc) but then they added in all the former Soviet block of impoverished countries and then seemed surprised when it flooded the founding countries with cheap labour and problems.

"I saw a news item that said the population of Romanians sleeping rough had risen 90%. Now I don't know what the figures are but I thought you needed an address to migrate to another country. Is life on our streets better than life in Romania? " Ok so ... Anyone from the eu who hasn't worked can get jsa for 3 months. To get housing benefit as an eu national you need to have worked in the uk for 6 years. So...i work with rough sleepers and all eu national on the street are offered to go back home (the uk pay for it) and lots turn it down. I find it very sad that sleeping on the streets is better than home for most

" You will find that most of the immigrants that come over here do find jobs pretty quickly over here because they do the jobs that most British born people think is beneath them. or wont do because the wages arent enough to live on " Well it's more than the £70 a week they get sitting on JSA and there is assistance such as working tax credits and housing benefit to assist those on a low income. I don't have any assistance from the state as its deemed I earn too much but each month I struggle to make ends meet, my bills are going up and I have my rent there are many people in this country in full time work in the same situation as me I have no kids etc so I'm entitled to fuck all but I would much rather work than sit on benefits jumping through hoops being treated like crap by the job adviser if the only job I could get was scrubbing toilets well I'll just don my best rubber gloves and scrub.

"Majority of benefits money goes to....... Pensioners Lower rents, raise minimum wage to match cost of living. That's how you do benefit cuts" . When you say that the majority of benefits money goes to pensioners , most pensioners will have paid into the system all their working lives . The real issue is people claiming benefits who have paid nothing in.

We should have a rigorous clamp down on anyone entering the UK without a job. It should be immediate deportation. Britain should not have to assist those from abroad who are unable to work. This is tax payers money and we have a responsibility as to how it is spent .

" Would you do it if was 0hrs contract so didnt know what hours you'd be working from 1 week to the next and afraid that if they phoned up and asked you to come in but you weren't able to you could lose your job? Yes there is top ups to your wages but not everyone knows about them. Shouldn't the job you are doing pay enough to live on anyway if it's full time without assistance from housing benefit or tax credits? If you want to encourage people to go out and work make it worthwhile for them as thought that was the point of employment was to better your situation. Fix this and then we can start tackling poverty as 50% of all families living under the poverty line have at least 1 working parent.

Yes We should amend the current pension system to make it self funding . Your pension should be based on your contributions. Out of interest , by how much did you want to cut pensions by ?. Most pensioners will have paid NI contributions all their lives so the cuts should be aimed at those who did not work..

" Didn't say pensions should be cut just pointing out that fact seeing many people are believing the tripe that papers like the daily mail print. Sort out those individuals and corporations who are dodging tax, encourage people to work by raising wages so that it does pay to work and stop picking on those who do need welfare because they genuinely can't work. Maybe then relatives would be able to get a decent allowance so that either they or someone else could look after a loved one that was ill or disabled without putting them on the breadline. As been said before don't believe the propaganda as it's just there so that you don't realise the real problem with society today and that's that there is too many people at the top bleeding it dry for their own benefit. Expenses for being an MP when most of them already earn more than the average household?

That's the point though, as soon as you join the euro you lose the ability for domestic quantative easing and bail outs. If the uk had been in the euro then we would have followed the same route as we woudlnt have been able to have creeated our own electronic money.. But be hostage to the ecb.

I've highlighted part of your quote because I'd like to make the point asylum seekers are NOT illegal immigrants. They are people who have had to flee their countries to protect themselves and the lives of their family. Illegal immigrants are chancers who just want to try their luck somewhere else. I'm certain that everyone here would agreed that those who have not contributed shouldn't be allowed to generate a life on benefits but Cameron and his lap dog Iain Duncan Smith are only adding more poverty to this country with their attack on those using benefits. Oh wait sorry just the other day they abolished the method as to how we measure poverty. I don't have faith in any of the parties anymore to do the right thing and fix the system that has become overburdened with red tape and MP's tripping over themselves to pander to giant corporations. They said after they were elected 5yrs ago that 'Austerity, we're all in it together.' What utter bollocks that was and yet still the general public voted them in for a second time..... We should help asylum seekers because they are seeking asylum. They are at risk of persecution it murder in their place of origin. This is basic human decency. No-one from Europe is an illegal immigrant. " Except asylum laws state you must seek asylum in the first safe country you come to. Can you tell my why the rest of Europe is considered unsafe?

" How do you feel about British people who happily live on benefits, breeding, never worked with no intention of doing so receiving benefits? " This always gets brought up. Just because you can't solve all problems at once why can't you fix the ones you can solve first.

Hungary have changed their rules so they are not taking back asylum seekers who have gone onto other European Countries even if reached Hungary as their first country. They say they can't cope with the influx.

Isn't education the way forward and demonstrating there's a different way to live?

" It's a generational thing kid grows up with mum and dad on benefits living in their council house, kid grows up has kids and the cycle begins again. However you are right people need to be educated.

My point was people always bring up British born benefit claimants as an argument aging measures to prevent immigrant benefit claimants. Ie if we can't solve the native issue why bother dealing with the immigration issue which we can deal with. Not sure why you lept to forced sterilisation

As if they can't have children. I know you didn't say forceably stop them. But how do you stop it? The difficulty is , it's the children who suffer - they didn't ask to be born. That's where it comes back to every time.

"I was furious when I saw the program. Romanian Gypsy is getting over £800 a month on benefits and trying to save 40k to build his bloody house back in Romania. Thought the bloody gov is going scrap the benefits and will not give any hand outs unless they have contributed???? How do you feel about British people who happily live on benefits, breeding, never worked with no intention of doing so receiving benefits? I saw a programme the other day of a British woman, looked fit to me, happily growing in her paid for council house spending £93 a week in Waitrose : forking out £3 for a loaf with seven slices. Aeroplanes do actually bring people from other countries to the UK as their first place of departure. Not everyone walks. And for those who come to Europe by boat, do you really think that every one of them should be accommodated in Italy? Human crises deserve attention and solutions globally, not simply washing our hands of the issue because we don't happen to share a border with a population that is facing catastrophic circumstances.
