Its pants. I was 15 when I rebelled against the influx of new romantics and boy bands like wham.

I started listening to punk mostly and reggae. The Clash were my favourite band in my youth, closely followed by stiff little fingers and the stranglers.

I like it more now for its artistic merit but I was blinded then by poncey looking fellas playing guitars and drums.

Still like Duran Duran

Livin' In Box, an amazingly talented trio who's musical tenure was criminally short lived.

Also, Phil Collins, one of the most hated men in music, though this is due to his detractors wishing they had an ounce of his talent.

Started the decade with Adam and the Ants, continued with the early days of hip hop/electro....middle bit was a bit shite other than the electro pop of PSB's/Erasure etc but finished with style thanks to Sisters of Mercy, Mission, Siouxsie, The Cult, The Cure, Stuffies, Poppies, Neds, JAMC, Family Cat, Wedding Present, Power of Dreams, Carter USM, Inspiral Carpets, The Primitives, The Shamen, Stone Roses and so many more.....

I like golden age hiphop there was a point that Rakim and Big Daddy Kane were the face of golden age hiphop while they were around my age I really respect that, other 80s acts like are public enemy, EPMD, Kool G Rap, Slick Rick, Pete Rock & CL Smooth, Geto Boys and ATCQ. Golden age hiphop is the equivalent to 80s rock,.

I was lucky enough to follow and see the Clash, Stranglers, slf, blondie, tubes etc first time round in the 70's, it was a fantastic time and rolled nicely into the early 80's, fantastic time for music and then all music died in the 90's

What? No votes for The St Winifred's School Choir?

It reached No. 1 so it had to be popular.

nb not much Stock, Aitken or Waterman mentionned above.
