Repatriation to Northern Ireland

National Archives released a government document from 1983 saying, before we hand back Hong Kong to the Chinese, we should move the entire population (5.5 million) to Northern Ireland.

Whilst it's more than likely a joke,one official thought it was a good idea.

It was a joke between the staff in the department.

It was also mentioned that a similar spoof / joke between staff these days would not happen in the same way!!
