"You can buy the water damage indicators online, just peel off the old one and replace with the new one....just incse your insurance don't cover for water damage" Good thinking! Also, as well as dry rice, if you have any of the those silicone pouches that you get with new electrical products, it's worth using those too. They should absorb any moisture. If you know anyone who'd be able to take it apart, they could potentially prevent any further internal damage. Corrosion is the killer. Normally it's better if the batter isn't present, I think.
