After the surgery you could still eat small volumes of very high calorie foods (full of refined sugars and fats) and still stay fat or even gain weight. Changing your intake to a more healthy composition is a more sensible idea that having someone cut you open and stick an elastic band around your stomach." You need to work out what the cause is though? Treat the mind stuff. There's lots of reasons why people over eat. It's will power at the end of the day. " Prep food for each day at th3 start if the week/month freeze/Store only eat that each day Don't buy anything and keep it in the cupboards just what's going in the prepared meals. It's often easier to stop yourself buying the extra food than eating what's there. Plus even if you eat the next days "snacks" one day you'll miss out on them tomorrow/the end of the week or month and it all balances out | |||

Take 1/5th of it off (evenly so 1/5th of each item) Do that each meal for a few weeks till you get used to the smaller sizes and start trying to serve to the same size you were with the reduction. " sadly its not a straight forward n clean cut as that. ive a very very slow metabolism that endocrinologists are confused by.. essentially i could eat anything and gain weight. the complicated bit also comes because i have not a lot of energy but such a huge mass i actually need to eat more in able to function. if i had a magic wand i would instantly shed 15 stone and give mýself a fighting chance as my body wouldnt have to work so hard on a daily basis | |||

Could always try the old ECA or clen if your hearts up to it. Both effective and proven. | |||

They work on ketosis and can work great with people in similar situations as yourself. | |||

B used to be 28stone, she even went into hospital for a while under a very strick diet/excersise regime and she came out 1 stone heavier than she went in. This was apparantly due to medication she had to take which slowed her metabolism down. About ten years later she had a gastric bypass and lost 18 stone. I cannot say if a band works (or even a sleeve) in the same way as a bypass but the bypass surgery has an effect on the brain as well. She since surgery cannot even stand the smell of certain foods now, just the smell can make her physically sick. Any quantity of pork makes her sick even if she is not told she is having pork she will be sick after one mouthful. She can eat cold poultry but cannot stand the smell of poultry cooking. However these operations do not work for everyone of the four women who had the operation the same day as B she is the only one to keep the weight off and has done for the last 16 years. | |||

Both, in this case, were completely undeserving (never bothered trying to lose weight on their own - God forbid they'd have to eat less and exercise more!). One is still his original weight (32st) because he expected it to do all the work and still forced his 4-person-worthy portioned meals down his throat, so has managed to stretch his stomach even more." I agree that the result of the surgery will depend on the effort you're willing to put afterwards. I heard (from a endocrino friend) of a patient who was on a liquid diet post-op and was not losing weight. Turns out the reason was she was melting choc bars and drinking them too . | |||

I'd also just split up from my husband who had told me my body post pregnancy with our son disgusted him, and before we had split he moved out of the bedroom as he could not cope sleeping next to such a hideous blimp (uhm yeah, he was a nice guy) He offered me a gastric band, and told me I was an ideal candidate as I was obviously morbidly obese and in danger of dying early. I walked out of that appointment in tears, worried about the future and my son. Went home, cried my eyes out, but decided I was going to change it around. I went through the cupboards and tidied out everything high calorie - so crisps, biscuits, pop, white pasta, white rice, anything tinned and highly refined went. I decided to eat dinner from a smaller plate, and drink more water. I also bought an exercise DVD on amazon at the suggestion of a friend. Started doing the DVD at home in the living room in my jammies when me son was in bed. First time I was on the floor, crying before the warm up was even finished - I could not do it. Next day, I tried again... ad nauseum (literally some days) Now roll on 5 years, I've lost over 18 stone, now a size 10/12, a 32DD, and have recently trained as a gym instructor as well as holding down my day job. I do not do elimination, so no food is a sin - I'd crave it too much, and don't follow fads. I cook from scratch wherever possible, and eat clean the majority of the time. I drink plenty of water, and have been told so often now that I do not look anywhere near 38. I still use cream and butter, full fat products (in moderation) and have chocolate, sweets and crisps (again in moderation) and feel so much better. I am so glad I did not take the option of the gastric band, and instead took the decision to take control myself. Its not been easy, but its been the best thing I have ever done." You do have to completely change your eating habits to get results and take plenty of vitamins. You still have to be strong minded to make it work. A good idea would be to join something like the FB gastric band group . They are very friendly with lots of support . Not a great deal of negativity. I joined as I wanted info before I considered it. I see now that its not for me but I do appreciate that its a good thing for some. However I have personally known two people that died with the bi pass surgery . one with a bad infection related to the op and the other had a blood clot move to lung which killed her in two weeks after her op. I have seen some brilliant results tho on FB. | |||

You want to lose weight and you know it's not going to happen doing what you are now. So there has to be a change. I was petrified of exercising outside because people can be awful. So I shut myself inside and did workout DVDs. Then when I got a little confidence I found a quiet place to go jogging. And you know what? There's someone else there doing the exact same thing. Let your husband have his pizza. You can plan your meals a week at a time, shop for that list and eat those meals. That removes the 'what shall we have for tea' problem. | |||

For the price of a years gym subscription you can make a pretty decent home gym. But better than that Google dumbell thrusters. When you start out you don't even need dumbbells fill some old milk or water bottles with water (1 litre of water = 1kg) to use. Thrusters are simple, easy and brutally effective especially if you do them HIIT style but leave that for now. For now focus on doing them slowly steadily and with good form. Whenever your bored or have some energy grab the bells and just do some for a few minutes or longer make games of can I do so many before the washing machine ends or before the advert break finishes etc. Fantastic exercises that also build a Lovely bum :p | |||
