Children and their questions

If you are asked a question from your child regarding another person be it adult or child who is " different " do you answer or shy away eg

My daughter once asked why the lady at the checkout had a funny face , my daughter was 2 and the ladies face was badly disfigured. I told her I did not know but if she asked the lady she would let her know. She asked as the lady explained she had fallen in a fire as a little girl. That answered my daughters question and she carried on talking to the lady.

Or when she saw a black man for the first time and in a very loud voice exclaimed mummy that man has a black face , I explained that she had a pink face and that there are lots of different coloured faces.

I have always found it better to explain as for my kids once they had the answer they never seem to bother about it again.

Rambling a bit but I know what I mean
