Too old for tattoos

Have been thinking for some time now of getting my rather worn 30+ year old tattoos updated, retouched or just generally made a bit more classy. Dragon on my right forearm and a panther on my upper left arm. They're still ok, but, let's say, of their time, what's the consensus, should I just grow old gracefully, or should I get them done, conscious that at 52, I don't want to look .....well, a nob I guess, help me decide sexy people

if you hadn't got any I'd say dont do it

but if you have them anyway and just want an old tired one brightened up you have nothing to loose, go for it

No offence to anyone with tattoos done a number of decades ago but today's standards of tattooing are much higher than days gone by.

A lady who comes to my Slimming World group treated herself to a tattoo for her last birthday...it was her 80th (birthday, not tattoo)

go for it , I got most of mines when I was 16, 32yrs later I started again , had four done in last cple of years and re-vamping my old ones , tattoos now are better , the artists are better [ well some] so I say go for it

Get email touched up, best keep them looking good since you've already got them.

Think of it like your classic car getting a bit shabby do you just keep driving it getting worse and worse or stump up and get it resprayed nicely that will last out its life?

I want a Fenrir tattoos on my right shoulder with some nord in runes and knot work extending down the arm.

But I think the bad skin and large amount of scars I've got all over me mean the ink would run/it would end up shit.

I do quite like the skin rota off showing muscle/machine underneath ones though some of them are amazing (and some are shockingly bad)

When I had my leg piece done around 18 months ago I was being tattooed for 4 hours and saw many different aged people come in to ask questions, the lady that was booked in after me was actually a 67 year old having her first tattoo done.

I say if it's something you want to do then do it

Away with the fairies (Liverpool to you)

39 and had two more tattoos just yesterday - now currently sporting two big thigh, three ankle, one nearly full arm, one half arm, three back (one of them is new and large) and a neck.....also discussed what I want next so getting an ankle to thigh and elementals on my back before Christmas so in my world you are never too old to get or jiggle tattoos

OP forget about other people. Would you like a new design in brighter colours and looking good?

The excitement of deciding on the design. The anticipation as you wait in the chair. The jab of the needle as it first hits your skin. The smell of the inks.

You're never too old for tattoos.

Only problems that can happen is your skin gets a texture which cannot be tattooed, (for example, i have lost a fair amount of weight so some of my skin is 'saggy' in places and can't be done). This can happen to old people when they get 'crepe' type skin.

I think tattoos look great on everyone who has them. Not saying i think everyone with them is sexy, but the fact that people wear something they like and wanted is great.

Get them redone.

It's your body and trends, fashions or body image doesn't belong to the young.

I took my mum for her birthday / mothers day present last week. She is 75 and we got matching tattoos. The tattoo artist was happy with it but did say older skin is harder to work on.

My OH is 50 and rather than getting his touched up he had a cover up done, he's got a half sleeve now and it looks awesome.

They advised him to go for limited colour as its this that fades over time.

I agree the one I had year before last is far better quality than the one I got at 18 and that's just 10 years difference
