Having noticed a handful of names mentioned on another thread in relation to this question, I thought this might be different from the usual 'hottest/sexiest/biggest boobs' topics.

Who in your opinion, do you find to be a noticeably intelligent person on here? Personally, I often find blackspice to be well grounded but sharp in some of his _iews.

I think its more about being perceived to be reasonable on these forums than intelligence.

Someone may be extremely intelligent, yet post a controversial post and be perceived to be an idiot.

Sometimes I think the ability to be a rationale un-emotive person is more important than intelligence.

Is it not intelligent to use google though?

I'm perceived as some sort of IT whizz in the office yet I just use google, the same resource which is available to everybody. It actually gets annoying

Being able to emote well can give off an impression of intelligence too when none is there.

They can, but the point I am making is that regardless of someone's intelligence levels if they state something controversial they get referred to an idiot.

You are quite right though, there is an art to wording something which doesn't cause hell on these forums

The clique being what it is (you know, the one the same few people will turn up and claim doesn't exist every time someone mentions the clique?), will ensure that the most intelligent former will be among them, or at least, they'll claim it and back each other up.

You can if you want to. Intelligence is pretty subjective though.

I appreciate people with experience of life who don't talk shit and can discuss things without being dicks, as well as those knowledge of how things work.

I don't find anyone in particular who stands out as being noticeably intelligent.

What I do see are different skill sets, some who can argue their point well and put foward a reasonable case.

However these are not always the people I will agree with.

On here, you can spend longer writing your response. In a face to face situation, your _iew may change. How do you rate intelligence? It's difficult to do.

There are many on here that are witty, sharp, funny, measured when needed and logical.

A few that stand out to me are View, Fabio, Scarlet Seduction, Scarletstars and Femme. Plus a few more but they know my thoughts as they're on my friends list.

As often as not though, those who have been named as amongst the notably more intelligent on here, and I agree with the nominations btw, don't necessarily spend a long time, but make their contributions and depart.

No need to spend all day at the desk.

The most intelligent are those who show their tits and arse and take the piss.

Wasting leisure time attempting to change the mindset and conventional wisdom of a bunch of people on an internet chat room seems to be more egotistical than intelligent.

Tourist driving down through Devon approaches a ford and seeing the village idiot, asks him how deep it is likely to be.

4" says the Village Idiot.

Five minutes later as the driver gets out of his stalled and saturated car, stuck in 4ft of water, he turns on the village idiot, "i thought you said it was only 4" deep, you ****"

"Arr well", said the Village Idiot "it only comes half way up the ducks."

That last part is knowledge.

I was told that too. That I was thick. Shouldn't bother with further education. Got by on luck. Etc.

Then throughout my twenties I was told I was 'street smart' and had great 'common sense' which always felt like a bit of an insult disguised as a compliment.

Now I'm at uni and averaging 75% in my modules. Which is a high 1st. I just like learning and trying to change the world as I go.

I don't think I'm particularly intelligent - certainly I don't believe I have a high IQ. I just apply myself to things. And practice putting my point across. Which other people don't bother doing.

No that just measures the 'vulture/maggot/hyena' mentality of those who turn up on said threads to taunt and troll.

What sort of intelligence? The most recent research suggests there's 9 different kinds of which the sort most associated with intelligence ie. academic is only 1.

I personally am quite happy with my levels of intelligence.

I find other things far more attractive than intelligence, ive been in situations where I have felt that ive been made to look stupid by so called intelligent people. There are some amazing intelligent people in this world but it's how you use your intelligence is the key. I couldn't give a shit what people think about me on here whether I'm intelligent or not, I'm here for a laugh.

There's a huge difference between academic and emotional intelligence.

There are so many aspects of cognitive processing too, so you could score incredibly high in some and very low in others.

And, as the education system is starting to realise, we learn in very different ways. Some very bright kids really struggle in a classroom, and some more typical kids thrive. (Wasp Hunter take note.)

I've heard very bad things about the MENSA test and it's accuracy.

The most accurate way to measure IQ is when you are still a child, but even the best tests have a bias.

Short of testing everyone in a standardised way, I'm not sure you will get an answer.

I would say Wasp Hunter probably scores fairly high, even if she's been taught that she wouldn't from past experience. That'd be who my money is on.

I'd agtee with that. Forums tends to favour those who are articulate, passionate, opinionated and knowedgable. All are characteristics that I admire, and while they are all indicators of intelligence they are far from a definitive reflection of it

Having studied English and Education at university im thrilled to see this post , finally something I can comment on properly !

Standardised tests are biased ( as someone else has mentioned ) because they are not tested idiographically and rather presume that everyone is on the same wavelength . I don't see how someone's intelligence can be based on the same criteria as someone else's intelligence. There are different levels, if someone isn't academically intelligent, this doesn't necessarily mean they aren't emotionakky intelligent. All academia does is allow the opportunity for those who are academic to excel, when really we should be paying more attention to those who aren't so academic, they are the ones who may have the potential in them but just need a little push to get it out. I work in an educational environment and I can tell you from personal as well as observed experience , that academic intelligence by itself is not enough for you to succeed.

I think that the majority of people on this site are a little too quick to judge, they say don't judge a book by it's cover and yet we find ourselves doing It every day. We have no idea about people's personal lives , I tend to find that the majority of users on here keep their private lives exactly that. This lifestyle that we live isn't supported by academia and if psychologists were given the chance to assess and theorise on our lifestyle they would probably say we all have attachment / abandonment and emotional issues which lead us to use sex as a way of replacing something otherwise lost.

so, because psychologists are intelligent , does that mean their assessments would be true?

There's one to think about .

Personally, I value many things about a person in order to assess their intelligence, far more than their academic ability or knowledge. I concentrate more on their personal experiences, their street wise knowledge , their emotional security, their stability and their ability to show and understand different emotions. Also, their aspirations and motivation.

Everyone has some form of intelligence, not always academic or knowledge, but definitely something .

I have no idea who is the most intelligent on here as I'm sure many people use these forums in different ways.

When I want to properly talk football, I go on to the football forums, if I want to engage in intellectual debate I go elsewhere.

I'm not one of those who uses these forums to argue / debate their points at length as that's not my reason for being here (and can be divisive which is surely counterproductive on a site where you're looking for likeminded individuals for adult fun!?)

I see the Fab Forums as a bit of light relief on the whole and nothing too heavy and I'm sure many others do too. So using this forum as a gauge of intelligence is most likely, in part at least, fundamentally flawed.

Those who harp on about how intelligent they are, tend not to be as clever as they think. True intelligence comes with knowing when to be intellectual, and when not

I concentrate more on their personal experiences, their street wise knowledge , their emotional security, their stability and their ability to show and understand different emotions. Also, their aspirations and motivation.

Everyone has some form of intelligence, not always academic or knowledge, but definitely something .

"

I really like this.

But as far as street smarts v. Academia go, I, unfortunately, do like an intelligent guy. Academics interest me. And science geeks. It's personal preference. It's a trait I find very sexy.

But they have to have street smarts too. And muscles. And be really good looking.

AND find me attractive.

I'm never gonna get a meet am I...

Well if you want to test their tree climbing ability, that's the only way to do it.

Sorry couldn't resist... I love you all really

Do you know what,I thought of you And I'll tell you why. You question things. You seek knowledge.

Seek knowledge that's hilarious

I beg your pardon sir/madam. Pray tell what it is you find so amusing you felt compelled to throw yourself on the floor laughing?

It was just the pure cheese it cracked me up. What a comment!

I was trying to be all deep and intelligent sounding too It worked for that Grasshopper bloke"

Awww Miss Lovely you lived up to your name (thereby proving that flattery gets you everywhere lol) I liked the "seeking knowledge" thing... it made me think of myself as a dumb mollusc flailing around in the dark, utterly and profoundly dimwitted, but seeking some small semblance of knowledge lol Just kidding... it was very sweet

"Anyone who isn't in the clique

The clique being what it is (you know, the one the same few people will turn up and claim doesn't exist every time someone mentions the clique?), will ensure that the most intelligent former will be among them, or at least, they'll claim it and back each other up.

Wow, how petty do you sound? I don't think there is a clique,(waits to be accused of being part of it)

I think some people have just been here a while, and some know each other in the real world too.

I dont think thats petty at all ! I admire People who have the confidence, bravery & intelligence to think for themselves and express their own _iews and opinions. Especially when they are all to often exposed to bullying and being shouted down by the cowards in the herd "

Or just the majority share similar _iews and opinions on certain subjects?

"I have no idea who is the most intelligent on here as I'm sure many people use these forums in different ways.

True intelligence comes with knowing when to be intellectual, and when not"

I've analysed the whole thread carefully and come up with a trustworthy irrefutable answer ....

The most intelligent forumite is me.

Closely followed by all those that agree with me.

Coming close third are all those that share the same sense of humour as me.

Running just behind them all the uncategorisable arse lickers.

Then all the arselickers who don't know why they do it.

Then anyone who challenges anything i've said here in any shape or form.

Central

I don't _iew intelligence as something that's simple, and particularly measurable. It's partly the application of potential complexity, alongside personal insight and application of that developed meaning into appropriate and straightforward communication - if we were to evaluate it from the forums.

Loads of people on fab stand out for me as having much brilliance, a sharpness of their minds and ability for incisiveness that astounds me.

It's hard not to couple this with people that I also appreciate and value their opinions highly - though there are some who have differences to me but I also esteem as intelligent. Long ramble over.

Naughty and Tina - as well as her wit are a couple that I eagerly read _iews from - Taoist is outstanding too. I'm hard pressed to consolidate so many people into a small list, as the forums seem blessed with great intelligence.
