"Go and do the Rat Run then come back and say Mudder is anything more than the glorified stupidity it is..." are you forgetting Mudder is for charity? Most charitable events that people can get involved in and raise huge amounts of money for charity aren't going to be exclusive of the majority. "Glorified stupidity"? Hardly. ![]() ![]() ![]()

Most charitable events that people can get involved in and raise huge amounts of money for charity aren't going to be exclusive of the majority. "Glorified stupidity"? Hardly. ![]() ![]() ![]() I know exactly what Mudder is for and have taken part on more than one occasion. However go and look at the stats for what it is now and how much actually gets to the charities after the costs, wages, etc are taken out of it. Plus the manner in which they have changed the "obstacles" over the years has made it a gimmick rather than a proper race as it was a number of years ago. As for "I wonder if you will have the same comment if you and yours suffered with cancer and relied on these exact same charities for help.. !" you know nothing so I'd wind it in until you do....

"- just had a quick look myself. Tough Mudder has an annual turnover of around £50 MILLION.... With the tax breaks, id say that it is well worth doing and appealing to the masses, rather than the select few who think they are too good for it. £50 million for "glorified stupidity" seems pretty good to me! " £50 million for the two founders who are both on Forbes, ex-lawyers, Harvard Business School grads, etc. None of what you pay for Tough Mudder goes to any charity - what YOU raise over the entry costs goes to the charity you choose if its not H4H in the UK. The stats for the likes of Cancer Research, etc are freely available - with CEO's on £100+k a year and more very little goes out to the people that need it from many "charities".... Having seen first hand the money some charities waste there are very few who I would consider helping. At least H4H and Over the Edge have Patrons and directors that take no remuneration and use their status to help and improve the charity rather than line their pocket.

"£600,000 went to H4H last year alone... That's just ONE of the charities. So the founders get a salary? Too right. That's their job. its a worldwide event now. They deserve it for raising so much and probably work their arses off for it! ![]() From the people who did the event - not from Mudder - millions more is raised by others without the costs going to Mudder. I don't begrudge anyone earning money but lets not hide that behind supposedly being charitable.
