Chilling on the sofa watching movies after a couple of hours walking the dog on the beach in the blazing sun.

"It takes no effort to indicate, it drives me mad when people can't be bothered

Had an artic pull into the middle lane on me this morning, just as I was about to pass him. No indication whatsoever. Luckily the outside lane was clear otherwise you'd be reading about a horrific crash in the papers tomorrow.

It pisses me right off when people don't indicate or at least bother to check if it's clear before they pull out.

there's no effort required to look over you right shoulder.

They are optional extras on most BMW. I don't bother indicating. If you aren't smart enough to judge what I'm going to do, then you shouldn't be driving in first place.

Fog lights on cars. They're not 'dull lights', 'rain lights', 'snow lights' or general 'makes my car look hot' lights. For the fog, thick fucking fog. 100m or less visibility. Switch them off!!

Where did I say "my lane"?

I had read the road ahead and it was safe to continue as I was, the road behind me was clear and the truck could have safely moved into the middle lane after I'd passed him. The fact that I was literally ten feet from his trailer as he began to move over clearly proves he didn't look, he certainly didn't indicate.

Yes supposed to be a professional driver, the basics should be second nature to him - mirror, signal, manoeuvre.

Obviously he was so stressed being stuck behind a vehicle that was only doing 55mph when he could go 56mph and nearly kill me and my kids...

I was not saying it was your lane but the lane you were in.

A good driver will read the road ahead and would have seen that the second truck was catching the first truck up and therefore moved into the third lane to allow it to move into the second lane.

A poor driver will simply stay in the lane they are in and expect the others to slow to allow them to pass.

In most HGV there is little or no advantage to turning ones head as there is in a car in fact such action may prevent the driver seeing a large van let alone a car due to bodywork causing blind spots.

As I said two wrongs don't make a right that means yes the lorry driver was in the wrong for not indicating but you were also in the wrong for not giving him/her space to proceed.

One additional point as a diver of a vehicle with children in it is you who is ultimately responsible if anything happens to your kids whilst you are driving.

If an accident had happened and one had been hurt do you honestly think you would not be blaming yourself for the rest of your life.

You would be thinking if only I had moved over into the third lane or slowed down and followed those trucks, etc. etc.

Accidents are seldom caused by the actions of one driver/vehicle, driver defensively and live.

You're assuming a lot.

I was very aware of the road ahead and behind (that's how I knew it was safe to move quickly into lane 3). There was no need for the lorry to pull out at that moment, especially without indicating, he only had to wait another 5 seconds and I would have been past him and the road behind was clear.

Something I've always wondered

Is it the more expensive the car the less likely it is the indicators will work or is it a case that people who drive expensive cars are arrogant pricks that feel the laws of the road do not apply to them

Same goes for giving way when I'm on my bike and a car pulls out on me it always seems to be business type men in expensive cars

Excuse me for not giving perfectly accurate, down to the last second, timings. In future I'll fit a stop watch to my car and focus on that instead eh!

As an aside. Although 82moh may be illegal I don't consider that excessive in modern, well maintained vehicles. Braking and safetey has come a very long way since the 70 limit was introduced and an accident at 70mph is probably equally devastating, in many instances, as an accident at 80ish. You're unlikely to walk away from it.

Exactly by your timings and distances you were travelling at 82 MPH!

You're unlikely to walk away from it."

You maybe the best driver in the world and your car maybe in tip top condition but it's the other muppets who are on their phones, don't indicate, don't check their cars on a daily, weekly basis and don't think about breaking distances that's the problem. As for your near miss I can't judge even with blue lights flashing I still get cars trucks vans pull out in front of me. Or pull out right behind me not thinking about stopping distance.

Feeling for yer. I did 12 hour shifts, four in a row last week and it absolutely killed me. Chin up.

Four on four off. Can't think of better hours to work!

People that don't indicate are lower than pond life. The worst are those that pull up at traffic lights in the right hand lane of a dual carriageway when the lights are on red and only put their indicators on to turn right after the lights have turned to green!

Strange that I find the more expensive the car the more of an optional extra indicators must be considering the lack of signals for the benefit of other road users (including pedestrians). They also don't seem to benefit from rear parking sensors or wing mirrors considering how badly many are parked. It's s shame the big manufacturers don't include these extras as standard the way more cheaper models do. I think my indicators, wing mirrors, rear view mirror etc are such a boon - AND they came included in the cost (even in the basic models)! I think we should tell the expensive car/4x4 drivers what they're missing & that they are clearly being ripped off by the high end car manufacturers for not fitting them to vehicles.

seems the same with car kits for mobile phones, its been mostly the "posh" cars I've seen that have some moron driving along holding their phone like a blinker, oblivious of the law and other motorists around them, then they jump in shock when you hit the horn as they start to change lane when you're beside them

Thankfully my little cheap car came with Bluetooth connectivity free of charge & included in the price, so perhaps the expensive car owners have to pay extra for hands free dialling. Shame really as they are being conned by manufacturers & are obviously missing out on hands free dialling, indicators, mirrors etc. My heart goes out to them for not checking these little boons are included in their car. Perhaps they didn't ask the dealership if these items are included in the over inflated price & are therefor ignorant of the fact that some manufacturers include them as BASIC ESSENTIALS. Poor souls.

oh I believe they are fitted, its just beneath them to link their phones to it, plus they want to wave their fancy iPhones about so we can all see how big a plonker they are

As a cyclist I've found myself many many times part way through my perfectly legal overtaking suddenly faced with the options of veering wildly right across the white line in to on coming traffic, stopping instantly and hoping I don't get flattened by cars behind me or kicking the side of a bus whilst shouting 'OI DICKHEAD! FUCKING MIRRORS!!!' Have to admit the 3rd option is my preferred choice usually

I especially get wound up by the fact buses now have sarcastic stickers on the back telling cyclist to overtake on the right when they are indicating left and think 'yep all well and good if you avoid trying to kill me'

It's a well known fact in the motor trade that UK spec audis and bmws don't come as standard with indicators. These have to be ordered was the additional 'human' pack at point of order when the car is built, otherwise you get the standard factory spec 'dickhead' or estate agent' model.
