France is on strike.

They have blocked so the trains from england cant get there but it seems to clear up today. If I had a car and waited in france with all the immigrants I would keep an eye out more. Could be dangerous. Security have increased there.

Are you going there or and what would you do? Why are they are on strike?

My son drove back from Disney via the tunnel last night with no problem other than a 30 minute delay.

Brighton - even Hove!

It was on the news this morning all about strikes about job losses and immigrants in Calais and the French accusing the uk of not doing enough and the French police watching immigrants climb on lorries and such.

the mayor of calais wants uk border security to carry out checks in dover/folkestone rather than at dunkirk and calais,

in short this would allow all the immigrants that are in calais to be able to travel to the uk making it even harder for us to detain them and stop them entering the uk and also cost us to extradite them,

the strikes are over a company selling two of there items (ferries) without giving the french much notice...., from what ive heard.

if traveling back to the uk its best to avoid calais whenever possible

France: proper socialist governments, loads of strikes, lovely little villages with independent bakeries, butchers and delis, rampant xenophobia and a desperation to cling on to the idea that you were once an important nation. Is it any wonder so many English people who grew up in the 1960s & 70s like to retire there?
