"Smoking in cars with kids in was banned in October '14 I believe. I'd like to see who is going to uphold this law. It's like mobile phone use, they have to catch you!! " what if your kid is old enough and smokes?

"Smoking in the car with kids in the back I think it should be band! Just been to my mates house (yes I have mates) and they both smoke in the house with there little daughter in the same room. Is that not the same? Ps I smoke after a few drinks but always outside " Problem is you can't tell people what to do in their own homes and even if you could who's going to know if somebody is smoking behind closed doors? For me not smoking in front of your kids shouldn't be a law it should be something any loving parent would choose not to do

"Hello all, I would post the link if it was allowed, but it's not on this forum. Here is an extract, specifically paragraph two:- The article in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute details a study of 76,000 women over more than a decade, which found the usual link between smoking and cancer. Lung cancer was 13 times more common in current smokers, and four times more common in former smokers, than in non-smokers. The study found no statistically significant relationship between lung cancer and exposure to passive smoke, however. Only among women who had lived with a smoker for 30 years or more was there a relationship that the researchers described as “borderline statistical significance.” Over at the Velvet Glove, Iron Fist blog, however, journalist Christopher Snowden notes “there’s no such thing as borderline statistical significance. It’s either significant or it’s not,” and the reported hazard ratio was not. Alec " ah good ol statistics, so often manipulated to make a point or justify something so its good to see someone step up and refute such dubious conclusions
