Morning all, just wanting bit of advice if anyone knows it's work related. I work shifts the 6am-2pm/ 2pm-10pm shift basically company deducted £50 a month off my bonus as got 3 people on my shift that are not willing to work any overtime as affects there benefits. Instead of penalising just these people boss has deducted everyone. Next month goes up to £100 then £150 then he has threatened to put anybody not willing to work past 10pm on a 4pm-12am shift. I understand he can deduct money off me as its a bonus but can company just change your hours like that??? Thanks

Says overtime is expected when and as needed. Doesn't say anything about changing hours tho that what's baffling me. Quite a lot people never signed there contracts so got probably half work force with one and half without

sounds like my place at moment, seems like every week something else is changing. Basically he's a millionaire and thinks he is above the law. As for the bonus it was originally a attendance and job mistake bonus so basically you lost a percentage of it if you was late for work, phoned in sick or made a mistake on a job which worked personally. My problem is the fact I'm getting deducted money when I'm not the one not willing to work over think that's a disgrace. As for Union sadly not in one I did suggest yesterday to few lads maybe we should all join one. Thanks for advice everyone appreciate it

Sounds exactly like where I worked. If they wanted to make changes then they would just give staff a month notice that it was happening. Unfortunately, when someone challenged it via acas they were told that it was the legally correct way to enforce unwanted changes and that many bully boy employers did it this way

Not signing contracts is a guaranteed way to get shafted.

As for the change in hours? You state above 'as and when needed'. So assuming you've signed your contract and it's deemed the changes are needed then the employer has done nothing wrong.

Terms for bonuses should also be detailed in writing. So if it states that it's payable subject to your attendance being as it should and you not making any mistakes then it should be paid. If there's no detail then a bonus is just that - a discretionary bonus and not guaranteed.

Have you spoken to your employer about the shift changes and bonus payments?
