you know the ones that cause your heart to race and make you jump even though you know whatever is imminent - well i like these but cant watch them alone - caught up on an old one last night with my daughter '' woman in black'' its been so long since either of us watched something like that it was comical to be frightened - didnt rate the film overly so - but sheesh how the mind works eh

Yeah most scary films are the ones where nothing actually happens but your mind makes up all kinds of stuff.

Catacombs i found really scary.

I am a wuss at horror films generally. But I watched all of Marble Hornets on DVD fairly recently and had to sleep with the light on for nearly a week.

It's a compilation of the recent self funded Slenderman YouTube stuff. Low budget, a bit hokey in places but genuinely terrifying. Oh, Lord of Tears was really good as well.

I struggle to find any 'scary' movie scary now. No idea why but just don't find them setting my heart racing or inducing those jump out ya skin moments.

I'm reading that at the moment. It was one of the reasons why I didn't want to go and wait for the Doctor with my mum yesterday, following a family bereavement. I'd be expecting my great aunt to get up.

Ahhhh, that's my favourite EVER novel! Still scares me every time I reread it though, ten years after I first discovered it

Then I think you can see why I didn't want to keep a beloved relative, but now a beloved stiff relative, company whilst we waited for the Dr to arrive to pronounce

40 years ago one of the best ever horror films Jaws was released kickstarting the summer blockbuster although if Spielberg had got to film the movie the way he had planned probably wouldn't turned out that way.

Interesting that a lot of Stephen king is being mentioned.

The books are much better than the films!

The film that made me look over my shoulder when it first came out was Nightmare on Elm Street.

But having seen it since on dvd, I wonder why?
