"I don't do Father's Day & I dread it every year. My biological dad was a toerag & my "step dad" isn't much better " I'm debating surprising my mum with a girlie lunch date for very similar reasons.

"I lost my dad 4 years ago. I miss him a lot. Fathers day was never that important to him. Sadly it was only when he was so ill we got the chance to really talk about life. He was my hero. My boys dad is relatively uninterested in his children and as such I make no effort to get him anything from the kids. He would never think to get me anything for mothers day even when we were married. However I will suggest the boys call him but won't make them if they don't want to. I agree a lot of these days are over comercialised now. However it's always nice to be thought of. There are many single dad's, step dad's, and father figures out there who do a fantastic job and sadly they often get tarred with the same brush as the deadbeat ones. No matter what day it is you should appreciate those around you. Life is very short xx "

"What has pissed me off are the mum's who don't have a father around posts. Not one person gives a thought about the dad's who bring up their children without the mother. Christmas is typical... This is for all the mums out there. " Hubby always says - " its just another day of the week " Your thankful that your still around to be a Father or a Dad..
