Does she have her dad?

I call my stepdad by his name, but my daughter calls him grandad.

As lovely a gesture as it is, I really do not agree with all this 'Happy fathers day Granddad' nonsense.

Did anyone see Dave Gorman's 'Modern Life is Goodish' last year? He did touch on this.

It's FATHERS day, not GRANDDAD's day.

And in any case, if he's a Granddad, then he is also a Dad, and so presumably will be getting at least one Fathers Day card from his own offspring.

My Dad is currently on holiday, so I gave him his Fathers Day card last week.

I did not get him a card from my children though.

This is just a marketing ploy by greetings card manufacturers to sell more products.

Speaking of which, my next door neighbours have just got a new Washing Machine. I must get them a card

But why would you call someone dad if it's not. My step mam never asked me to call her mam and I never will either you only have 1 mam and 1 dad

I don't do Father's Day & I dread it every year. My biological dad was a toerag & my "step dad" isn't much better

I'm debating surprising my mum with a girlie lunch date for very similar reasons.

Got a card and gift for my dad. Forgot to post it.

Doh!

Sure a dad can be useless but so can mums.

So can partners for valentines day.

I count myself lucky on all 3 fronts.

You would only celebrate a day if you are lucky enough to enjoy it.

I would not send a birthday card to someone I disliked

Told me lad that I don't do father's day, no card no present expected or wanted.

Unfortunately my dad would get upset if I didn't get him something. The old get.

I lost my father as a teenager, my Mum met my step-dad a couple of years later. He was lovely. I called him by his christian name though, not Dad. I had a Dad who I had lost. He never had any issue with it. He knew he was loved. I will visit both their graves tomorrow as I loved them both very much.

I lost my dad 4 years ago. I miss him a lot. Fathers day was never that important to him. Sadly it was only when he was so ill we got the chance to really talk about life. He was my hero.

My boys dad is relatively uninterested in his children and as such I make no effort to get him anything from the kids. He would never think to get me anything for mothers day even when we were married. However I will suggest the boys call him but won't make them if they don't want to.

I agree a lot of these days are over comercialised now. However it's always nice to be thought of.

There are many single dad's, step dad's, and father figures out there who do a fantastic job and sadly they often get tarred with the same brush as the deadbeat ones.

No matter what day it is you should appreciate those around you. Life is very short xx

We all only have one dad, if he is there or not, saying that as they say, takes any man to be a father.

A real man to be called dad.

Happy fathers day to those good dads!

What has pissed me off are the mum's who don't have a father around posts. Not one person gives a thought about the dad's who bring up their children without the mother. Christmas is typical... This is for all the mums out there.

Hubby always says - " its just another day of the week "

Your thankful that your still around to be a Father or a Dad..
