New vs Refurbished

I'm thinking of treating myself and getting a tablet... As a graduation present from me, to me.

Would you get a refurbished one, or do you prefer new?

If you get the same warranty, then refurbished is fine.... as long as it's quick enough to do what you need and up to date enough to run the apps you need.

I always buy refurbished anything, every time the product has been fine and i've saved a lot of money.

Sometimes the battery isn't as good, but mostly they are. Laptops tend to be what has the 'dead' battery but i only use mine at home anyway so it's never a problem.

make sure it can support the latest OS updates too, or it'll quickly be redundant then app updates won't be available for it either.

Also check what the warranty is on it, refurb is fine if its properly done and from a reputable firm, manufacturer refurb even better. Watch out for "seller refurbished" tho as that's often just a clean/polish and maybe a new battery.

Fully agree on the update capabilities, as well as the supplier's eagerness to keep updating them: if that's a mandatory aspect of updating the OS.

Mail order will usually mean you can return them: just factor in that element of the cost, if you might do so.

Lots of companies now have outlets online where you can buy their returned and refurbed goods. Apple is rated one of the worst for being value for money: a few were reviewed a few days ago.

Some good sites have jailbreaking instructions and downloads, meaning you can break ties with suppliers.

I would go for new. There are some really good deals about check out ebuyer if I remember correctly they were doing a Goggle Nexus for around 130 quid

Depends on your needs, but when you can get brand new latest clone Android tablets with 10" screens or smaller higher definition screens as cheap as £50 ..... why buy old used ones? Unless of course its an all singing all dancing top brand at a bargain price.

For just internet browsing, pictures, camera the droid is great. Best of all most apps are free!

Bought several items from Argos's refurb site. They've always been in perfect condition cosmetically, although a couple of them I've had to return, which was not a problem.

And they come with a 12 months guarantee.
