...i'm going to wag my own tail...

when i moved into this hose with my then partner, now ex, I was the odd job man and he was the purse...every stitch of furniture, the plumbing, the decorating...i did.

we ordered some lovely silk drapes from laura ashley...and ot of buggarance i asked him to put up the rail (that and the fact we have 12ft ceilings and i dont like heights and the rail has to go right up to the coving)...he promised to....a year later we split p.

today...18 months on, i have put up the rail and the curtain are finally out of their pretty tissue paper and i actually consider it my greatest achievement....even if the pole is slightly dipped in the middle!(the finials on the wood surround aren't straight)...so...yay me!

did you pat yourself on the back recently?

I agree "well done you" but doesn't it just show how much any person can do if they are determined enough to at least try.

What's the next job then ?

and in response to the above...I built a bookcase, two side tables, the tv unit, dining room table, double guest bed and wardrobe, chest of drawers and side table and in the nursery...2 junior beds a wardrobe and a bookcase...I knew I could do it, but I needed my ex to contribute something too....that's why I never did it before.

It re-asserted the fact that I did indeed do all of this and never needed his help..which is a big smiley

Well done Dances, good for you! I tried to put up a curtain rail when i moved in here after splitting from the Ex and ended up a heaving sobbing mess after about 45min of fighing with it. My wonderful wee Cuz mopped up the snotters sat me down with a glass of wine and got her man to do it for me. so i know what a bloody good job you just did! *hands you a well earned glass of chilled vino*

thank you...and I know what you mean!

i remember the turning point for me...my ex was merrily chilling on the xbox one xmas whilst i was doing all the pressies and at 4 am he went to bed tired whilst i was busy putting together this wooden kitchen i'd bought my eldest....it was 6 before i got to bed and was up 2 hours later, spent the day cooking up a storm and after dinner had an evening party to cook and host for our neighbours and their family...i felt desperate that day and admit to quite a few tears! i don't like to be beaten!!

Well done. I am very practical, until it involves anything electrical, like using a drill!

But my brother is a carpenter so I bribe him with my cooking if I need any drilling related DIY!

Just think, you can look at your pretty curtains And be all cosy this winter
