I've just done some research. Jason King - actor Peter Wyngarde - was a huge hit with women, a sex symbol of his time.

He was known amongst some circles as Petunia Winegum, as he was a somewhat in the closet gay man. He was arrested for gloryhole use in a public toilet and his career changed, though he was General Klytus in the film Flash Gordon - behind a mask. Sounds like he could have been good fun in a club
