There's lots of gated housing estates all over the country.

I think there a product of a failed society!

Look at all the failed society countries they are riddled with them, I hope the uks flirting with them is a passing trend, nothing good ever comes from shutting yourself away from society

Nope.

They were all full of zombies in the Walking Dead.

What you really need is a second hand nuclear bunker. Zombie proof and safe from people nicking your TV - but sadly don't tend to come with off road parking.

Not for me. I may be unfairly imagining them as awful enclaves of people obsessed with their cars and faux Grecian columns but that's how they are in my head and it sounds hideous.

Spain has plenty. Lived in one that was all situated around a big open space that had a pool and mini town square in the middle where people would come and sit at night and talk to their neighbours.

Buying on a site like that also helped protect you from greedy town hall planners who used to knock off plan houses down. Corruption was rife back then.

Great sense of community and a nice quiet life.
