You're having a conversation with someone through messaging on here, and you notice that they delete all your previous messages as you're conversing...

Does that ring anyone's alarm bells? It does me a bit...hmmm any views on this?

I do it to keep my messages nice and tidy. You're thinking too much into it.

To be fair I do this up to the latest one just so I don't have loads of messages to look at when chatting to a few different people.

On my side it isn't personal, just housekeeping, can't account for others obviously.

I delete all my messages once I've replied to them. Delete my sent ones too once I see they've been read.

It's just good housekeeping

I always delete them as long as you keep the last one they sent you can still see the entire conversation.....

Just keeps your inbox and sent box tidy

I delete when I've either replied, or decided I'm not going to bother. I've only got the free membership on here, so if I don't delete the dross, the few special keeper messages I've hung onto will drop off my page. Sorry that rings alarm bells for you. I think you may be reading too much into message deletion. X

I only ever keep the most recent one. There's usually way more than 100 messages in my mailbox, if I want a hope of getting to any at the end, I have to delete some others. I also generally delete my sent messages, equally in-sinister.

No alarm bells at all....we can often have conversations with 10 or more people at a time so keeping the read section clear is really helpful to keep up....we just drop the latest one into saved...also useful if only 1 of us is online...that way the other can catch up later.

Yeah I get that you want to clear up your clutter but this bird is literally deleting messages after reading and then replying back to me? I would've thought you might want to keep recent messages so you can have a look back at them when you're in the moment, that's what I do.

Strange behaviour I think but maybe it's just me!

Maybe she's that confident that you'll message her back that she knows she doesn't even need to store your details.... Guess she has her sent items to refer to.

No, we generally delete messages after we have read/replied to them. No funny business, just like a tidy inbox and I have a pretty good memory.

Sounds like we are talking to the same woman lol

Its definitely not strange at all.

Why keep a message when you can see them all from the latest one??

I don't really send dirty chat type messages so no. But you only need to keep the most recent one to see the whole message thread anyway.

That maybe they don't have any intentions of meeting up, instead just charting bullshit to get you all worked up?? Then next time you login they've up and left the site...wouldn't be my first time!

Catthorpe

Been mentioned briefly before but why bother to keep them except for the last one which shows all the message exchanges on that particular message feed? Just scroll through and read, also save the last one and presto, read at leisure and a nice tidy inbox too. Just ignore the deleting stuff, they're talking to you and that's the whole point, you may get a meet out of it.

Dude, have you not noticed that you can see the entire conversation in the latest message - why keep the older ones?

Be grateful for it, the ones you want to avoid are the ones who start :

"You know that thing you said 3 years 2 months 6 hours ago on the Monday evening as we were getting ready to go out ...." sort of thing.
