Without sounding like an arsehole. That figure is for someone with an average BMI. As you're larger the amount you need to drink is higher, the human body is mostly made of water, the more body you have the more water you need to consume.

Kidney infections are horrible, I've been admitted to hospital twice with one. The pain was worse than child birth.

Hope you feel better/ get better soon. X

I've now got this vision of some old codger with a flat cap and a watering can appearing when it goes off, and whilst whistling a jaunty tune, waters you then goes off to poke at your geraniums.

Include fluids from all sources in your intake, not just plain ole water. I've had two bad kidney infections, one was caused by an over zealous man,his fingers and determination to make me squirt. That took 6 weeks to get rid of. Hope you recover quickly

Hope you feel better soon, they are horrible infections and make you feel so ill

I was actually told to stop drinking as much water and fluids in general even when i have an infection as it makes it worse bt making your kidneys and bladder overwork, since i have followed that advice i recovered very quickly from that infection and have had no infections since !

I also drink cranberry and avoid caffiene which has helped a lot too.

xx

I've not idea what you weigh, but I know I'm not exactly light....love to see what they expect me to drink, may as well go down to the Dee and open my mouth cos I think it will be more than 5 1/2 litres.... May as well just live on the lav

I drink about 20 cups of tea a day to keep the system flushed. Shame the 5.5 litres of water cant be 5.5 litres of fluid then you can have wine or beer

Only if you are passing water, if not and the kidney is swelling it will make it worse!

I know from experience

That cant be right surely? Isnt it dangerous to drink to much water as it dilutes the minerals in your body!

Just checked mine and it says 2.9ltrs. Drinking 5.5ltrs would make you over 25stone, which must be wrong!

I've been having this argument with my hubby for years that he needs to drink more than 2l of fluid because he's 6'4 so obviously weighs more than average. Going by that app I should be drinking about 3, which is what I try to do anyway. It does mean I go to the toilet practically every hour but I usually need a screen break by then anyway

Sounds like you're on the mend at last. I was prescribed solpodol after snapping my knee during a motorcycle accident. Good stuff. But very moreish! Don't go chasing the Dragon!x
