As you say... It's a modular construction... Travelodge, Formula 1. Hotels etc do the same thing... As do Mc Donald's

Makes sense...it's also how ships are manufactured these days .....but the true total construction time is masked for PR purposes...still impressive.

There are also 3D 'printed' concrete structures now....it's the future (that n garlic bread)

Boring building though

Hopefully it will have have had extensive Finite Element Analysis performed... Including seismic analysis...all pretty run of the mill these days (wot I does for a livin innit like).....well, I try not to work with Civil Engineers if possible, but that's another story

Plenty of misconception about h&s aa always!! I think you will more red tape comes from the government and other daft bodies who waste tax payers money

There's a prefab student accommodation building being assembled in Newcastle at the moment. Took a while to build and set the foundations, but this is going up pretty quick now.

And by pretty quick it's about a story higher every week

A lot of the cheese grater was built in a similar way. All the concrete was precast and the MEP was built in modules and just fitted together on site.

Looks like the way forward.

Being built of steel and glass means when it is eventually taken down most of it will be recyclable, unlike concrete.

I would highly recommend reading the article, it's enlightening.

It's a good system but the question is if there's a real market for many very similar buildings.

In the west we tend to like our large buildings to be different and unique to the ones around them as do the people putting up the money for them.

Actually most of it fell down years ago!.

The vast majority of it the tourists walk all over is under 30 years old!

It's possible but it's also possible he's genuinely trying to bring about a more efficient way to do something that would be done anyway!.

There are hundreds of big businesses that are really genuinely concerned about climate change as their biggest threat to their profits!.

Unless your working on the motorways. Then it's 8 hours a week before breaks.

I travel regularly up and down the M1. They have a 20 mile or so stretch of roadworks with 50 MPH limits both sides... think the most workers I've seen is about 7. Most times though... none.

The conventionally built Empire State Building finished in 1931 took 410 days to complete from excavation start to finish. That has 102 floors.
