Reading the topic you guys probably thought it was gonna be a debate rant about immigration in the UK

But I'm more interested in where you guys would like to move to if you could pick anywhere in the world?

That was'nt the OP's question, the OP's question was where would you go to if you could go anywhere.

However i do work in construction and there is a call for construction workers in Australia, under their points based system i would also get extra points for speaking english, so who knows, would'nt know unless i applied?

Having lived and worked in the UK, US and EU I would and do choose to live and work in the UK. The most reasonable, liberal, law abiding and least corrupt country of any I've lived in.

Not perfect but definitely best IMHO.

Don't forget it is also acceptable for them to not learn the language, socislise exclusively with other ex pats and only eat traditional English food

I've done the same, this country is flawed, but the grass isn't really greener anywhere else, maybe just a bit warmer.

If you are seriously thinking of going to live and work out there permanently, I would recommend going out there on a trial basis, as many within 2 years return, because it's not the paradise that people think it is: it's not 'hot all year round' - they do get winter out there (some colder than others); it doesn't have twilight (it gets dark at 6pm in the summer); you can't have your windows and doors open during the summer (unless you have screens to stop the large flying cockroaches and mosquitoes from coming in!); not every home and business has air con, and it's very expensive to install; you have to pay for most of your health care and then, there's a huge waiting list; and being on holiday in a hot sunny country is completely different to living and working there - you'll get fed up with the heat eventually...

OP: I immigrated from the aforementioned country to avoid all of the above.

My parents split their time between Spain and Gibraltar. I was out there when I was six coming back in the end to do my A levels. Loved it but was a lot different from a holiday. Wasn't fun for the first couple of years being the only English in a Spanish school.

Now I have had my fill of living in Spain so would prefer somewhere different. Quite fancy New Zealand for the scenery and way of life have several friends out there who love it.

Majorca for me! been there a few times now and as a keen cyclist the island is very cyclist friendly and has just the right weather for a good ride in the morning and a pool side lounge around in the afternoons!.

I move country every three months or so. Been doing this for years now and have learned a few things.

Most important to me now is contrast.

Was in Sicily before here - great food gelato etc etc - but too hot in Summer, so coming here for the Summer is great.

After months of wonderful Italian food a Sunday roast or fish & chips is really good. Three months from now arancini and pasta with tuna roe will be good.

After six years of hot Med Summers the rain on an August day in West Cork was delicious.

Contrast carries over in other ways in my life.
