My written English isn't the best (praise be for spell checker) but try, for the sake of the reader, to be comprehensible and not use txt spk.

Not sure why but when I see adults rite sumfin lik 12 yr o kidz lolz, it just makes me cringe and massively turns me off.

Am I the only one who feels like this?

No, most certainly not...we can't stand it and it's becoming more prevalent with older people too. We don't even like it when getting texts....probably just getting old and grumpy.

Brighton - even Hove!

I prefer people not to use txt speak unless it's a lady saying "fncy a fuk?"

Why do people still use text speak anyway? Newfangled smartphones have proper keypad thingys and unlimited texts so no need to try and trim it down to a few characters.

They do and with the swipe thingy you don't even have to lift your finger off the key board.

It doesn't greatly bother me to be honest, as long as I can understand what's being said then all is good

I can't stand it either. I know it shouldn't matter but my brain automatically goes "Ah, not very intelligent."

And before anyone plays the dyslexia card - I could too but won't because I don't use it as an excuse to not at least try to spell correctly, I use it as an excuse to try my best to make sure I do!

Hate it!

I received a message from a very attractive woman, but it took so long to decipher what she was talking about I gave up on it and her.

Where's Alan Turing when you need him?

Meh you young 'uns always showing off.

I can't do the finger swipe thingy.

I tap it out with my thumbs.

Then backspace a few times to correct.

Then spell check it.

Then proof read again.

Then think it's dumb and delete and start again.

Just had a message from some guy that I deleted without replying, it was so bad . Correct grammar and writing seems to be a thing of the past. Or maybe I'm just getting old

I occasionally use 'Lol' but that's as far as it goes. I despise text speak, especially when there's no punctuation or grammar.

How can you have a flowing conversation when it's a pain in the arse to decipher what the other person is saying?
