So, bought a blend active at the weekend and am looking for inspiration for smoothie recipes i can make for breakfast.

So far i have made the same one twice which is nice but i need some variation.

1 apple, 1 banana, 5 blackberries, kefir grain milk, oats. today i added some coyo yogurt.

i am looking at making mor veg based ones as the sugars from the fruit ones are no good for me. Also...should i invest in some whey protein?

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

Kale and apple is nice. Beetroot works really well. Maybe try almond milk.

What the Kefir milk like? A woman was offering me a free sample of Kefir to make my own Kefir water but it would have died by the time I got it home.

Beetroot, kale or spinach as the base with a peeled lime (use a knife) and a good chunk of ginger (flood for so many things)

Then add some of:

Frozen or fresh berries (from market, whatever is in season and cheap)

Pears (good for ladies apparently)

Almonds

Pineapple

Sweet potato

Splash of water, enough to loosen in the blender.

My personal favourite is Beetroot based. It just works.

I used to do this everyday but got out of the habit - must get back into it! I used to use kefir milk made with raw unpasteurised goats' milk (hard to get but I found a local licensed supplier), along with banana, frozen blueberries, oats, ground almonds or peanut butter, frozen chopped ginger, cinnamon, milled flax seed and a raw egg yolk - people say they'll give you food poisoning but I never had a problem. I've also used almond milk, other fruit (eg pineapple) and fruit/veg juice, whatever I have to hand, really...

Not sure any of this is good tbh....

Oats n milk is a no no methinks...and bananas

I guess as long as you don't strain out the fibre it's probably ok (better than nothing) but fruit juices are just liquid carbs and very bad...insulin producing=LPL=fat

If you get a mo have a read of "why we get fat and what to do about it" by Gary Taubes... I was totally sceptical but half the way in was a convert... The guy is a physicist and not some form of pseudo-scientist...I found it almost impossible to fault his work.

I'm testing his theories on myself... 3 weeks in so far and lost about 4kg and not a calorie counted....not hungry etc

Sorry if it's a bit of a swerve but I'm now convinced carbs are the real big no no, and mushing up carbs to liquid form is probably pretty bad tbh....

Anyway, seems to be working for me...

As an aside...

Total Fage (real Greek yoghurt and the only good one on the market it seems) with whole fruit is nice and 'relatively' low carbs...

Yummy

North West

I think these power blenders are great and I have a nutri bullet breakfast every day bow.

Kale as the base (wonder food!). This is the most important ingredient, the fruit really just varies the sweetness and flavour.

Then top up with

Blueberries

Goji Berries

Pitted dates

A tea spoon of linseeds

Plus a small portion of two of any of the following

Apple, mango, pitted plum, pineapple, banana, strawberries, rasberries.

I sometimes buy the pack of frozen summer fruits and berries from Tesco, they work well too.

That's guys. I am trying to go the veggie route rather than fruit but I guess a little is needed for natural sweetness.

I've only just started on the kefir grains but my dad is a total convert (and he's not a faddy person!). To be honest even if they just sort my temperamental gut out I'd be happy lol

Trying to ditch the obvious sugar in my diet that seems to have crept in again then will deal with the rest!!
