childhood music

I spent an evening the other day downloading some music that reminded me of growing up... It was varied from Rogers and Hammerstein musicals to Ella Fitzgerald and Danny Kaye... To name but a few... And for me my personal childhood things were Madonna... Love listening to the older stuff but not keen on anything from this decade..

So what music takes you instantly back to a good place in your childhood. Have to say grease soundtrack is one that is a definate. But one that never fails to make me smile is a song from the movie Hans Christian Anderson .. it just makes me smile as does shall we dance from the king and I. And anything from calamity Jane.

Scunthorpe

Although I point-blank refuse to grow up, there are loads of songs which take me back to memories from my childhood.

Nut-Bush City Limits and Wig Wam Bam instantly remind me of school discos.

Titz Towers, North Notts

Alvin Lee and Ten Years After. My dad was a huge fan and had the tape in every car all the time. He'd never heard you could have too much of a good thing.

Most of the stuff coming out of the Motown label, Flowers in the rain by The Move and also anything that was played on Radio Caroline or Luxembourg not to mention 'The Light Program' then as it became better known - Radio 2 - which was the only station my Dad would listen to, so we had Sing Something Simple with the Adams Singers every teatime on Sunday and the 'JY Prog' - Jimmy Young through the week and Alan 'Fluff' Freeman doing pick of the pops at the weekend Happy days

"Puff the magic dragon and the unicorn (both on an album by roger whittaker) "

Oh, Puff, so sad ... May have to put it on now. But when he slips into his cave, I get so tearful.
