Pain relief...

MAMOBA, miles and miles of bugger all (Aberdeenshire)

Someone ran into my car on Monday past in the petrol station, writing her off (beyond gutted) and I've been sore ever since - whiplash and a possible trapped nerve in my shoulder...

I'm allergic to many painkillers - getting paracetamol and tramadol - neither of which are even touching the pain (And I've a high pain threshold)

so looking for suggestions to take my mind off the pain, and the number of things its utterly messed up (not sure I'll be cleared to do tough mudder on the 20th now) - tell me your favourite joke, or what you do to distract yourself... (oh and its my right arm, so wanking is difficult too )

They claimed not to see her as I was parked at the pumps - and they drove their fook-off big roads maintenance lorry into her - drivers wheel and all round the front, hooking the car up on the rails underneath his truck... but then I'd have disturbed his sandwich if he'd actually been looking where he was going! Only a few tonnes of truck after all - not like it does any damage

No, none at all. Tap with a toffee 'ammer will soon have the dings out.

How does one not see something as distinctive as your motor?

Sarnie in one hand, phone in the other and map in the middle, all while in charge of 10 tonnes+ of machinery.

And all of CCTV... thankfully.

Sadly twisted the chassis the way he ran into her. Beyond gutted... and bloody sore.

Angus & Findhorn

when I hurt my back recently, walking across the swimming pool really helped me. Not sure of it would work with a shoulder.

I was in Moscow for a business trip and the Russians just looked at me as if I was a nutcase... I was only waist deep the whole time

Put some rice in an old sock and tie it off. Heat it in the microwave for a couple of minutes. If you have any essential oils add a few drops to the sock and use it instead of a hot water bottle as you can position it directly on the painful area. Gentle hugs xx

Also keep doing the exercises (did they give you a pamphlet at the hospital) as although they are uncomfortable it will speed up healing. X

I will maybe try that if I can get down to my local health spa where I am a member anyway... between that, the jacuzzi and the steam room, it might all help.

If you know anyone who has a TENS machine, they are amazing. I have a long-term back condition and the TENS helps a lot. If not, Boots sell them for about £20. Failing that, a nice warm bath and the rice in a sock thing or a hot water bottle is good. Hope you are soon healed and sorry to hear about your car Oh and for the insurance, make sure you go to your GP and get it documented xx

Put it on the radiator for a bit instead if you have the heating on. It is better than the hot water bottle imo. Effectively it's a homemade wheat cushion. X

Try a tens machine , you can buy them at most decent chemists and the electrical impulses stimulate blood flow in the hurt muscle.

How you feel better soon

Cold ice pack till sure any swellings down. Then hot water bottle or heat packs for the muscle areas affected.

Only use deep heat once swellings down although may alleviate the pain its easy to re injure due to it masking the pain.

ditch the tramadol. It will feck you up. Expect major irrational mood swings after a week or so.

Rest and dont rush it x
