guys, take a break from the Horniness for a moment and please remember the incredible bravery that took place on this day.

the actions that took place on the 6th of June 1944 shaped the liberties and freedoms of modern society. whatever your views on modern warfare, this is an important date to remember and reflect on.

Also remember that both sides suffered 70 years ago today regardless of there nationalities . Many had no choice but to fight for fear of what would happen to there families if they refused .

I took part in a German remembrance day last year.it's taken a long time for people to get over the bigger picture and start thinking about the every day folk.

big feels. I hope people can one day realise the real story on both sides. massive respect to anyone who has served under any cap badge. especially if they have had to follow orders they don't agree with.

I'm glad we have the right to refuse illegal orders these days

Brighton - even Hove!

A visit to the Normandy beaches is well

worth a visit. Last time I saw a couple of veterans which was incredible.

My Grandad flew a Mosquito as air cover over D Day. Earlier in the war he used to fly Sunderlands and whenever we used to go to Duxford the staff would let him sit silently in the cockpits. Amazing man.

He used to tell me such exciting stories about "Rhubarbs"where they would have free rein to hop across the channel and cause carnage during the build up by targeting whatever they wanted.

Exciting back then but in context extremely brave and frightening now.

I have been over a few times to visit the beaches. I cry every time.

Very poignant places.

West Midlands

My father was a para with 12th Btn yorkshire regiment 5th Brigade and landed just after the Glider troops had swiftly & silently taken the bridge later re named Pegasus Bridge,they were to reinforce the glider troops and to hold the bridge but they got scattered all over the DZ,remember my dad telling me he had set up the Machine gun in a building opposite the Gondree Cafe to repel germans trying to get across the bridge,i visited the bridge & Museum last year and there is a big pic of my father and his machine gun platoon in the museum and also on the front of a book in the museum,all very moving it was.
