Politeness costs nothing

No not a post about replying to messages for once. But how rude are people just now in Tesco some guy just practically walks into me and doesn't even say sorry, just stares at me like its my fault I even found myself saying sorry to him and still not even a "that's alright mate". Doesn't it really hurt to be polite these days?? David Cameron's big society my arse!! (Not a dig at DC)

I avoid supermarkets at peak times like the plague for just that reason. Well, that and fecking kids driving trolleys......wtf!

I find Tesco's brings out the worst in a lot of people which is why I go to Sainsbury's!

I get equally frustrated by drivers who don't acknowledge when you let them through etc.

I guess some people are far too busy and important to remember common courtesy.

I'm with you on this, rudeness is everywhere these days. Push past in queues, no holding doors open or no 'please' or 'thank you' .. I must have been brought up in a different generation or times are changing as I find rudeness in the increase.

Motorway driving is a prime example too - people see queues for an exit, but dash down the outside lanes then expect to cut in at the very last minute for no thanks ... Gets right on my tits I can tell you!!

Yup. Annoys me, too. I am not sure it has much to do with Cameron, though. I don't recall him bumping my shin with his trolley.

I always call them out on it.

'Excuse me, I think you meant to say sorry' and they always just go bright red and shuffle off.

I'm tired of feeling like I have to apologise to people just because I'm female (and possibly because I'm small and young looking).

My mum always says 'you're welcome' in a really loud voice if she holds the door and someone doesn't say thank you

We can't go to the supermarket when it's busy, Pete gets trolley rage when people park theirs sideways and stand chatting blocking the aisles - he rams theirs out of the way I have pointed out it's rude but he says no ruder than them causing a traffic jam with their selfishness.....so we go really late or really early now

I do that!! It's funny.. Or if someone shoves past me in the street I go 'Oh no, EXCUSE ME!!'

This is also why I do my tesco shop online now. Stops me impulse buying and wanting to ram people with my trolley

This is life in China, I was looking at something in the chiller and some Chinese lady was so interested/nosy to see what I was looking at, she stepped on my toes as she stood right in front of me.... No one else was around, im sorry to say she learnt a new english word... But she looked at me as if if was my fault.... Grrrr can't wait to move away from here....

There seems to be la k of ma ners , politeness and much more in today's society. I'm another one who will say in a loud voice "Ohh no thank you or something else to just prove a point.some people just look with that blank expression .

People in Iceland are much more well behaved with their trolleys never really hd a problem. But Tesco that's an entirely different kettle of fish. Even some of the staff are rude in my local one.

I don't think it's particularly a generational thing, I've experienced some incredibly polite young people and incredibly rude elderly people. People generally piss me off so I also get my big shop delivered, it's worth the couple of quid delivery and the risk of them bringing feta instead of halloumi not to have to go and traipse the aisles.

This actually happened last Sunday. I was quite appalled that Sainsburys would ever think that was a valid substitute

It's not about being a gentleman, it's about being courteous! Courtesy has no gender. I may be a feminist but I have no problem with anyone holding a door for me or picking something up or helping me carry things - I do my best to try and do this for others when I can.

As for bumping into people, well it's so ingrained in me to say sorry that I apologise if I bump into a lamppost or anything else

Manners should be a habit not a choice.

My biggest pet hate. I had it the other day. I was leaving a shop and pretty much out of it when some old lady just tries to walk through me. She then had the cheek to state I should watch where I'm going. Lost my rag and gave her what for! Funny how some people expect manners and respect but totally lack them themselves.

I was in a shop once and saw someone who looked familiar. She recognised me and we both did a little half wave thing at the same time and only when I looked confused and she did too did I realise it was me in a mirror

I had that once I admit I wasn't looking where I was walking as I walked out of a shop and knocked into a guys shoulder I immediately apologised only to be told I should fucking watch where I fucking walk, well I reacted like a bull to a red rag! If somebody done that to me I would have at least laughed and said something like these things happen.
