Rode horses for over twenty years, much more fun than cars.

Was in Sicily before here, a woman friend from the West Coast US stayed with me. She has just qualified to drive trains, really. Bit more power and larger than cars

My 19 year old Pontiac Firebird is currently taking a break following a drive shaft failure at Christmas, and while it's off the road I intend to give the whole car a major mechanical overhaul - including a full engine rebuild - and I need to sort out a few areas of paintwork.

In the meantime I am tooling around in a hateful little Toyota Yaris. (That belongs to an elderly Aunt who recently went into a care home)

Honestly, this is the worst car I have ever driven, but it is keeping me mobile

No problem with getting parts as there is a strong US parts industry here in the UK.

Ebay is also pretty good.

I sourced all the parts I needed to do a T-Top conversion from ebay - including the Glass tops.

Some of the suppliers in the states also ship to the UK.

Rockauto looks pretty good - though I haven't used them yet. Parts are pretty reasonably priced too, but watch out for shipping prices on small low-cost items.

I need to get a new pair of hatch struts. Rockauto has them at about $9 each. Quite reasonable, but with the shipping, they come out at about £70 for the pair.

My next motor will be a 2002 WS6 (Ram Air) Trans Am, but I also quite fancy a 77 Black and Gold SE (Bandit) - That might have to wait a few years.

I'd be very interested to hear these updates audio systems That manufacturers install.

Was at a Range Rover dealership with the salesman telling me about this Range Rover model which comes with a £4500 sound system which is rated 1700 watts. Seems a touch over priced and under performing !

My Alfa GT has the Bose 1000w system. It's more about sound quality than overall volume and bass. The sub is 10" and adds depth to the sound rather than being in your face. It's perfect for rock music but I doubt it would be much good at modern dance music.

Yes. We have the Harman Kardann upgraded sound system in ours. It is ok but nothing really special. Albeit listening to Two Tribes very loud is kind of scary as the music attacks you from every door and footwell!

My subs are only 10" they just happen to be 3000W of 10"

they're one of the best subs on the market, I only got them because I got an awesome price on them.

New they're around £600 each

If I'd of bought them new. With the amp, wiring and the enclosure its a £2000 subwoofer that I run, it's fused to a total of 300amps

That's my next thing to do is get as much sound proofing in as possible. I get serious windscreen flex, It will set car alarms off in 30ft radius.

Stuff I've looked at is £80 a box, gonna need 3 boxes. What did you use? A cost saving alternative that's good quality would be much appreciated!

Also whilst improving the sound quality it will also improve the SPL inside the car

Same car I've has for 5 years a Suzuki swift, been wanting a new car for ages, never kept cars this long before. I currently have a lancia delta on my drive as well but it's not mine it's my daughters grandfathers! Tempted to drive it cos it sounds lovely but he took the keys with him!

To be honest I've no idea what the brand I used was, I got it from my detailing supplier. I just asked for Dynamat... I think it was about £40 a roll but I'll have to look through my invoices to be absolutely sure. The improvements in sound quality were noticeable immediately. Definitely worth doing even on a standard stereo set-up.

One trick I've found for improving sound quality on any system is to improve the sound deadening. Being an Alfa driver one of the first things I did was lift the carpets to check for corrosion in the floors, while I was at it I laid some dynamat and the difference is very noticeable at any volume."
. I have a Sierra Cosworth. It has it's original radio cassette which is rarely switched on as the real soundtrack is under the bonnet
