I took my son tonight to the circus and I must say, I am thoroughly disgusted! I guess I knew there would be horses trained for the ring but to my horror there was a camel pirouetting and parading around. The audience generally, appeared to find it amusing. I just wondered what others thoughts are on this?

Up North :-)

I prefer the circuses without animals my self. They tend to be slicker and you don't have the lifestyle issues for the animals.

Always wanted to do high wire or trapeze.

I agree...cirque du soleil type show interests me...I won't take my kids to one with animals

They did in this one! I am seriously horrified. I haven't been to a circus for well on 20 years but decided on a whim to take my son. Never again.

It never got through parliament before the General Election, it is still at consultation stage although the study by DEFRA showed overwhelming public and Veterinarian support.

Although many circuses have already undertaken a voluntary code that excludes animals.

Well I believe it's about time it should be banned. The show's owners 'Pride' themselves on the dedicated training and care for their animals. I even paid to go and see how the animals were kept behind the scenes. Guess what? The camel was housed in a cage! Not a temporary stable as the horses but a cage.
