Op you can ask to go on preventative medication (I take pzitofen every night which helps expand blood vessels in the brain) and rarely get them anymore

Burton upon stather

Make sure you get your two litres of water a day, avoid excess caffeine are the two big ones.

Take a walk everyday and get some fresh air in your lungs too.

Stress can have serious effects on the body and cause migraines, have a think if there's anything on your mind that could be causing the pain.

Keep a diary for a while saying what you eat and drink, what your stress levels are like each day and what you do that day and also record when you have a migraine, then go docs with it and ask for help

Some folk are very sensitive to aspartame, found in diet drinks.

There is also a migraine support group, the link of which I can't post here but google it.

I take triptans.

if u suffer from imboblising migranes more than 6 months ask your gp to refere u onto hospital

Very true ... i avoid it as it is also bad for your kidneys, i would rather have sugar which gives me no problems

I know this may sound dirty but masturbation is proven to help as we a man climaxes it releases a natural chemical in your body which acts as a pain killer similar to what u get in tablets over the counter

I exceed 2 litres a day, hardly touch coffee/tea, my job envolves a lot of walking. It might be the stress, but I know how to manage that (been on a few stress management courses).

Stress and gritting my teeth, tightening up my neck muscles cause mine. Posture and breathing are important for me.

little house on the praire

I started getting them when I got pregnant, about four a week. Then afterwards about one every 8 weeks. Then about 8 years ago they just stopped and I rarely get one now.

I have no idea why they just stopped

Migraleve duo pack for an over the counter remedy, but as mentioned earlier, Triptan based medications work best. I use sumatriptan injections for cluster headache. P.

Migraleve don't work for me anymore.

I have my eyes tested every year.

I sometimes go six months without one, then they come back with avengance for a while.

Had then since I was 13 years old.

Twickenham

I've suffered for almost 40 years and it's dietary that triggers it. I've been to GP, neurologist (including mri brain scan) , acupuncture, food allergy and homeopath. The food allergy test found I had a reaction to MSG which explained a lot. I once ate a Pukka Pie and with 15 mins I was suffering. It's the most horrible thing and it's the one time I would seriously consider killing myself

Research has shown positive results with acupuncture I believe.

I have had acupuncture, it stopped a migraine that I had for a fortnight.

Doesn't do anything for the one/two day ones though.

I know many people who have food allergies, some as simple as a potato etc. They had tried food diaries, but never isolated the food themselves. Tests available at Holland & Barratt.
