I feel your pain. As someone who plays a number of musical instruments I think its great that kids engage with music, but since my neighbour's kid has taken up the trumpet I have badly squeaked Twinkle Twinkle Little Star every morning and evening. Even if he had a new tune that would be a blissful bonus!

P.O. Box DE1 0NQ

I went to two different boarding schools. My dad asked me which musical instrument I wanted to learn, so I said piano. He bought me a guitar

The next school hadn't got a guitar tutor so he asked me which musical instrument I wanted to learn, so I again said piano. He bought me a trumpet

I've always been Jack of all trades, master of none

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

My next door neighbour's son also plays the trumpet. Hours of practice, and he appears to be dedicated to getting it right.

One day you might look back fondly that you heard him when he was just a kid. (I have borrowed that almost entirely from a post TheBirminghamWeekend made when I put up a similar thread. He's right.)

My Own Little World

My daughter had a few months of trumpet lessons at school last year. They were fun

I work in a music shop, double edged sword.

People coming in to test pianos etc that really know what they are doing.

Youngsters first instrument, not so good.

"Its all in the embouchure....

It is when you play the oboe, but difficult when wearing a brace on your teeth
