Art work can be real shoddy on some. Or what they represent might not meet with some people's approval.

Have you had some negative feedback? Or just asking?!

I like my tattoo, hurt at first but then really enjoyed being stuck with the needle repeatedly... I want to get one that covers my whole back...

People hate all kinds of things. I guess they just enjoy feeling that way because it's a waste of time hating something as it doesn't really affect the thing being hated.

Idk people are just weird like that.

I've got tattoos, 9 at the moment but want more, its personal preference. The same as not liking someone's clothes or hairstyle. If people don't like my tattoos don't look at them. Different strokes and all that.

Attention seeking? Stirring it up on a boring early Saturday morning? Lol

I get that people don't like tattoos but to say that all people that have them have no class is in itself juvenile.

Right design in the right place = incredibly sexy.

Bad design in wrong place = looks nasty.

I love the "tramp stamp" tattoos on women they just look so good. Also quite partial to some of these I'm seeing trailing around the legs and ankles. However I'm not a big fan of them on the chest or the tops of their arms

Tops of arms ok on men, not a fan on women. However It's like people have said; personal preference. I think the design and location has to fit the person. Ive seen a few full body pieces of art on women that have looked incredible but then have looked tacky on somebody else

I used to love looking at them on other people and discovering what they meant for the person but now they seem to be just another fashion item like shoes or a bag to keep with the latest trend of covering your whole body in ink, only this is permanent

I enjoy looking at art and I appreciate fantastic ink work but some just look messy to me

I love my ink. Some are bettet than others but i dont care, i loved tattoos before i knew about tattoos of that makes sense so took me a few goes to find good tattooists.

Spent about 5-7k so far id guess. Dont have much space left now, only ribs and thighs really.

So many that need to be finished though, anyone wants to see my half finished back piece, check my pics!

I like tattoos if they're done right, they can be very attractive.

Shame this developed into a class war. It seems the ones who feel they're a class above are usually the opposite. Class is how we act not how we look.

As you were chaps

For those uneducated... tattoos have akways gone through class trends... in the mid 19th century it was considered very upper class and many of the nobility if the time had tattoos.

So maybe be a bit more open minded about things you might not either like or even know fuck all about. I havent even read this whole thred, is far too long but i can picture the comments now...

Well I've never been accused of being common. I've had many compliments for the 'pictures' that adorn my body.

I hope that those who don't like or disapprove of my choice to decorate myself have the respect and decorum to keep any derisory thoughts to themselves. To be rude about the way someone presents themselves is very common in my opinion.

Funny that... The Ivy isn't posh - it's just made out to be because it's overpriced and loved by the "Elite"

Try and get a table at Gilgamesh... Oh wait .. You can't... That's selective - the owner is far from posh but chooses his clientele to create the right atmosphere. Nothing to do with how much money you have....

Strangely enough - he is tattooed.

Sitting at a table in there in jeans and a loose tshirt with my ink on show and not a single person batted an eyelid despite there being people in suits, shirts, evening dresses, etc.

Class is what is perceived by others - when you are comfortable in your own skin - it doesn't matter where you are or who you are with...

I wasn't saying that people who have them are tramps. Where I live the tattoo that goes across the bottom of a woman's back is referred to as a "tramp stamp". Hence I used speech marks in my post.

Actually I like them and I think they are pretty hot on a woman ;-p

On the tattoo subject - I don't give a shit what anyone thinks, though I do have full sleeves which can't be seen in a long sleeved shirt/top.

It's no big deal, they're just tattoos and not in any way indicative of the person who has them.

That said, I'm not a fan of neck/face/hand tattoos, or people with writing (Only God Can Judge Me etc).

No-one is.

People just use the word to point out how 'important' they are, or how vain they are, or how wealthy. It literally means fuck all because, like race, gender, and other labels, it's just used as a way to highlight non-existant differences between people.

Class is just categories. When you start giving categories actual substance it's stupid, imo.

Categories don't mean better, they aren't an excuse to imply someone else is inferior, imo.

But we use them because it's ok to tell someone they're wrong for being who they are and that they should aspire to be something other than what they are? Doesn't makes sense to me. I know society is built on this, somewhat (for most people), but they don't make sense either.

People are who they are. They have their own life, their own meaning to it, their own ways - some of which might be stupid - but they're allowed to be themselves. And they don't need telling they're something they don't perceive themselves not to be.

Am I the only one who really really really doesn't give a shit either way? People who think they're more creative or edgy just because they have tattoos annoy me, as do people who think they are classy because they don't. Most people are neither of those things and that's all good with me.

"I have tattoos of a skeleton playing the drums, gambling themes, spider webs and an undead king with his arms around two pop up queens

Topped of with a leather bracelet with two gold skulls

How the fuck is that not class

Oh some of my tattoos are in Latin....just to show I'm also cultured "

One of mine is in pig latin because I'm just that highbrow...

"Am I the only one who really really really doesn't give a shit either way? People who think they're more creative or edgy just because they have tattoos annoy me, as do people who think they are classy because they don't. Most people are neither of those things and that's all good with me. "

Why can't someone invent a way of making tatts dissolve or be absorbed into your system after a predetermined time. This would give people a chance to change their minds if say they had a paramour's name inked on there arse or whatever then split up with them. Old people wouldn't have to look silly with garish tatts or people who aspire to 'better things' etc

I don't care if people have them or not. I have found it's usually those who don't have them are the ones that like to throw judgmental comments around.
