"we have an agreement here...no matter what i do, i will undoubtedly feel guilty for not doing enough or the right thing. therefore, i will do what the hell i like..i'm going to feel like a shit any way!" as a mum - I am with you on that one - and it does not work to use your head here. Guilt is an emotion you cannot control through your head - I always feel no matter what I do for my kids (even when they tell me I am great - it is not enough! THINK US MUMS WERE BORN WITH GUILT GENES...

"I always said to my kids when they had their own places I would......leave all the lights and heating on, windows wide open (cos it's too hot) raid their fridges, leave soggy towels in the bath and tramp muck all over their carpets. I blamed them personally for causing the polar ice caps to melt and the hole to appear in the ozone layer. But guess I did get through to them eventually.... they now tell me to take slippers with me to their homes, put a jumper on if I say it's a bit chilly and allocate my own colour coded towels so they know who leaves them lying. BUT I did buy my grandson a drum set a base guitar and amp and give him chocolate when his mum's not looking! It's great being a noona!!!! " Love it Bet they love you

My daughter at 28 runs a hush hush team for british gas, is a single mother, she works full time only minutes from her son's nursery and has the brightest happiest cleverest most sociable and polite 4 year old (not biased in anyway you understand!) pays her own way always. And No1 son at the age of 25 is now head chef for a prestigious local restaurant. I am proud of them, I love them and I will always defend them to the death as they are mine. Their father abandoned us years ago with nothing but his sperm donation and debts up to my ears. They have been through divorce from their father with me,the bereavement of my second partner and supported me through aggressive breast cancer. I am truly blessed with them. As for No2 son aged 12....well what can I say? he's a work in progress!! xxxx

"I used to load my daughter up with smarties just before sending her back to her mum. Smarties used to send her hyper. " Stupid and selfish thing to do. My ex used to do that and the only people that suffered were the kids. They then couldn't sleep so were late going to bed then couldn't wake up for school so were tired and miserable at school.
