I quite like the Welsh, why people want to harpoon them I can't understand.

Have you any idea how much sea life those feckers swallow? They are an environmental disaster.

When they also decided to accidently vandalise a few ancient Nazca lines they lost a little respect.

I quite like Sea Shepherds style although they have been known to stretch the odd publicity stunt.

.

Hang on four or five guys working on a stupid stunt does not make the whole of Greenpeace.

I'm a Greenpeace member and the first I heard of the story was when I read it in the paper like everyone else.

We've spent years campaigning on many issues without great publicity, it was Greenpeace that finally got the eu to ban the sale of illegal logging that ruins many countries.

Besides that I think this thread is on about an entirely different type of whales

Agreed he's a douche but I like the style of the organisation. Several antique boats messing with several very cruel industries.

It's a tough call.

I've seen the utterly devastating effect of the Japanese whaling industry and I can understand how it would drive people like Watson to the extremes but you just can't condone violence! As much as I like his results

It does seem a little hypocritical when he promotes non violent direct action one minute and the next he is hurling bottles of acid (albeit stinky acid) and firing flares.

Pete Bethune is up to some interesting stuff now.

What I hate about him though is how he sits safe on his ship while he orders everyone else to do the dangerous work

grrrrr don't get me started

if he's so passionate about his cause why don't he risk his life and freedom for it instead of getting others to do his dirty work for him while he sits on his big arse spouting out orders

cunt

I can even think about him I'm getting wound up already

I've been making my own diesel for around 6 years now, it's a little bit tricky when you first start and worrying! Lol.

But it's so simple now I've got it down to a fine art.

I have a deal with a local chippy who provides me with oil in return for servicing his gas appliances so I'm getting the base product for free but I'm making it for around 10-12p a litre now

Of course, you're no doubt declaring it to HMRC and paying fuel duty......

It would be interesting to know what the rules are on that one. For example you can make home brew beer and wine for personal consumption and not have to pay duty. Is it the same rules for home made diesel?

A friend of mine in Spain makes his own diesel from cooking oil and swears by it.

Yes, by law you have to declare the amount and pay fuel duty - there's no VAT as there is no sales transaction

Hello SExybum,

have you read Patrick Moore's book about Greenpeace. It's about how he was involved in the original creation of Greenpeace and how he fell out with the direction they took.

Worth a read.

Alec
