London buses..

Kent

Just investigating taking my little lad to London zoo in the summer as his treat before he starts school in September.

Will be getting the train into St Pancras. Now normally Id tube to regent park and walk through the park to the zoo. But that's a big walk for little legs and I can't face the tube with a 4 year old so im looking at the bus instead, it says the bus only takes a few mins and goes from Kings cross to Camden.

Are the buses/bus stops in London easy to navigate? And is Camden far from the zoo entrance?

Thanks peeps

You can use the tfl website to navigate around London and check live bus arrivals. If you can use a map you'll be fine

It's a 15 minutes walk from Camden High street or a 274 bus. That's from Camden town underground station

So I can get the bus from the station to Camden then another bus from Camden to the zoo.. Perfect

Then get the tube to Queensway, cross the road and take the little guy to Princess Diana's park.

Not sure re bus routes but what I am sure about is book your tickets in advance ~ as the queue when I went last August was approx an hour, not good in the heat with kids in tow!!

214 goes from Kings Cross to Camden, is almost as quick as the tube (when you factor in the walk through kings cross tube), runs regularly and picks up adjacent to St Pancreas

Brighton - even Hove!

Take a scooter as he will get tired walking about London Zoo, then you can load bags onto the handles and push him along. A trip down the canal is fun too.

The canal is by far the easiest and most pleasent way to get from Camden to London Zoo

The river bus from Greenwich (cutty sark) to embankment is great fun for kids. You can catch a bus from embankment to London zoo.

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

"You need lickety's advice in this! "

I've only just arrived. All the route information and booking ahead info has been given.

The only things I would add is 1) definitely book ahead and look for any deals (even with a weekday booking there are still lots of tourists in London at that time); 2) take a packed lunch!

The last time I took one of the kids a slice of pizza was £6+.

The other thing to do it look on line for the feeding times. You have to see the penguins being fed and if the zoo is busy it's worth getting there a bit early to get a seat and have your own lunch.

There is a petting zoo and play park and when they were little that was the bit the kids liked best.

It costs a fortune but we always have a good time.

She's coming in at Kings Cross/St Pancras and doesn't want to get on the tube.

Getting the bus up to Baker Street you still have a walk through Regent's Park to the Zoo entrance.

Ive been before a few times and loved it the Penguins and the reptile house were my faves. I can get 2-4-1 entry with my train ticket and im paying with tesco club card vouchers which means I can't book ahead unfortunately.

Food will definately be packed!! Luckily I can go the day without eating much and my lad isn't a big eater either so don't need to pack much! Lol x

That's the problem it's quite a walk through the park for him he's only little. Sounds like the bus from Camden high street is gonna be the best option x

We don't have them anymore. BoJo's manifesto was to get rid of them. I think it's been about three or four years since the last one was on our streets.

With a child that young it would be my choice too.
