I would have loved to have been there as I served on the QE2, sadly I cannot make it, so will have to watch on TV.

As I wrote that Radio two were reporting the event and sounded a ships foghorn. It reminded me of being stood on the jib of one of the cranes on the foredeck as we reversed out of Sydney harbour after being there three days in 1987 for the bi centenary celebrations.

The Captain sounded the foghorn as a salute and the soundwave blew me off my perch.

God they're loud!

If it's anything like when they are in southampton , be prepared for loads of traffic . Some people were stuck for over 4hours
