Is manuka worth the price premium?

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

It has got to get here from the other side of the world.

We can get pineapples here from the other side of the world and still sell them for 50p each.

But the little busy bees don't do the pineapples. It's usually really, really poor people. Honey keeps longer than a pineapple too.

It's all about the marketing and the market assumptions.

It's the marketing I was questioning.

Is it as good for you as some folk say and with so much (allegedly) counterfeit manuka around, how can you be sure of what you're buying?

I don't know how you really judge the efficacy just in casual personal use. I buy from Waitrose and trust them to sort out the fake from the real thing.

Read you should always look for honey from your own country as it will contain the best things suited to your country and not on other side of the world. Makes sense.

If you're looking to build your immunity then local honey is best as it helps protect you from the local irritants.

I'm not sure it's as good as the block button though.

As someone who has purchased it I would probably say its not worth paying extra for. Some research has shown it doesn't give any extra health benefits that you can't get from 'ordinary' honey.
