Do we have any budding car mechanics that can give me some information to get my transport back on the road, no car... no meets, gutted.

Thing is, there is oil being pushed out of the rocker cover breather pipe. Any ideas weather there are any gaskets inside to prevent it coming out?

If you've a high mileage on the engine the crank case breather may be blocked hence causing the leak. The the engine switch off remove the pipe race it's route back to the air box and clean them out. Refit the pipe and put a hose clip in the rocker cover end. Good luck.

Could be the crankcase pressure due to worn or broken piston rings possibly...likely if its a high miler. A cylinder compression test will identify this.

Think someone may have already mentioned, but it sounds like the breather itself may be blocked. Seen his on some older VW's. It is not a case of oil being "pushed" out. More a case o it being sucked out, by the breather pipe. The idea is that fumes are drawn by the breather pipe, and recirculated, but over a period of time, the gauze trap inside the rocker cover, becomes increasingly blocked. This in turn increases the vacuum significantly enough to the point where it begins to suck up the oil. The gauze is not replaceable, therefore it will probably require a new rocker cover.

Depends greatly on the car and engine type. Blocked crankcase breather pipes would be my first guess though, usually the return to sump pipe, Renault diesels suffer from this. It's made worse if services are skipped.

is the car also smoking and misfiring?

What car/engine is it?

its a peugeot 307 hdi it is smoking due to the oil coming up the breather pipe, to the egr, where it is clogging the egr, stripped all the pipes out of the air intake, egr pipe, cleaned out the intake, the turbo, was ok for several miles then started to do the same. serviced last month, new egr valve, new turbo. seems its not my turbo oil seals, but the rocker cover breather pipe. but i dont understand whats causing it, because i believe diesel to be zero vaccum.? if the injesctor seals and washers are worn, would it cause it to run to rich, an where does all that excess diesel go???

I've considered the rocker cover being at fault, or maybe a seal somewhere. when i purchased the car, the man in the garage said something about rubber washers over the injectors. but i'm unsure to what he refferrred.

the car burns grey smoke, occasionally black smoke, occasionally it looks like a James bond movie with the amount of black smoke its discharging.

There should be an oil separator tank somewhere in the breather system, it's common for them to get blocked on French oil burners.

Also you say the injector seals are worn, is there black tar around the top of the injectors? If so it needs sorting ASAP.

My ex wife had a Renault DCI which had a problem with the EGR filling with oil, turned out to be a pig of a job to track down, turned out to be an electrical fault with the aircon causing the valve to jam closed!
