Say I wanted to be my own boss. What should I do? I'm forever late, ditsy and lose 1 in 3 things I handle. I'm not a people person and always say the wrong thing.

I can type medical info fast, bake, walk dogs and look after animals. Job ideas welcome!

I have ran my own business in the past. It takes a lot of self discipline and determination to make it succeed.

I can't point you in the right direction as regards to which avenue you choose to explore, but you need to do a hell of a lot of research and know all about your competitors etc.

Good luck anyway, it can be highly rewarding

You also need a fair amount of initial capital, especially to get you past the first month when all you do is google porn.

Allegedly.

According to a friend I have.

Not me at all.

Honest.

No really...

Spend your spare time researching what you want to do in minute detail before committing to the change, where you aim to fit within your chosen marketplace, your potential competition as well as clients, finances, regulation. The list is by means exhaustive...........

Good luck if you choose the path. I'm just stepping out on it myself now.

I'd have gone bust if we'd known about this site back then!

I mean my friend would.

Obviously...

This worries me.. I hope to be self employed in the next few years, and I can just see me slobbing on the couch half the time browsing fab

If you fear that you'll be surfing the net too much then self employment probably isn't for you

I can work from home if I choose all I need it my laptop and phone. However I find I get distracted easily and it takes a lot of discipline to accomplish some larger jobs in one go.

I much prefer going into work as its a fun office and full of lovely people.

Oh and cream cakes and nice coffee

Sounds like you should run a dog bakery .. But don't forget to take them out at the right time or they'll be too crispy

Ditto. Working from home sounds amazing but I often found it very hard to get motivated to do 8+ hours when I was in the comfort of my own home. It's much better to work in an office with nice people and make work a different facet to life than just being at home.
