"So will he go ahead and put forward his views that uk will go out of europe. Will this be his biggest mistake so far if it goes through with it? I say yes its the biggest mistake for uk to not be in europe." Cameron wants us in Europe. The only thing he really needs to do is to win some "benefits" victories and that will be that. I actually think that this referendum will be good for Europe as it will shake up the complacency amongst other EU countries and David Cameron could actually make a big name for himself if he plays his cards right. Think about it - he is going to the EU as the good guy, their friend and asking them to help him get the sceptics on side in Britain.

"So will he go ahead and put forward his views that uk will go out of europe. Will this be his biggest mistake so far if it goes through with it? Personally I don't think the eu has long left regardless of whether I want in or out. If you look through history these types of things rarely work without an awful lot of bloodshed.

"Is is not a little ironic that twice within the last century it has cost Britain so much in two world wars to play a huge role in helping our European neighbours, and now we are going cap in hand to them to beg back some sovereignty over our own country?" We didnt help Germany or Italy or parts of Austria France etc who collaborated. Not everyone was anti Hitler. Over all countries are concepts grown out of tribes and societies. I have no issue with being European. But I do disagree with European issues being undemocratic. But that requires giving up more powers. Which I would be hesitant to do as I think European values are a little too far to the left economically to serve us in the longg run.

"I think as with all Contracts they need re negotiating every few years because things change over time and things get a little one sided. The EU is good for some things but not so good for others " Agree with this. Being a member of the EEC should be beneficial for all concerned, but there is a need for standing our ground on certain issues.

"He doesn't really want to leave Europe, but introduced the referendum to try to win back votes off ukip and calm the rabid right wingers. The conservatives are bankrolled by business who know it's in their interest to be in Europe. We will thus face strongly influential messages to stay in Europe, before the referendum. Trying to renegotiate the basic principles of European policy won't budge. Some little things will be tinkered with. He will be given a trinket or two and proclaim he has struck gold with them. Photo opportunities all around, back slapping amongst the party sycophants. Knives will still be out for him, as a dead man walking. We should remain in Europe, even if ifs just so Shag can live here, before he goes to Spain. " Bank rolled by business who know it's in our interest to stay in the EU? JCB/CAT/FINNING company said publicly the other day it wouldn't make a blind bit of difference to them if we were in the EU or not.

"I don't think he wants to leave. I also think whilst I and others are euroskeptic. We will vote to remain in Europe. But you don't get a good deal by expressing how content you are with the status quo. (rockin all over the world). He'll get a deal on benefits. A few exemptions here and there. Then sell a vote to stay in."

"There are basically three choices when it comes to the EU. 1 Stay as we are with a few minor but significant changes to free movement and benefit claims. 2 Fundamentally reform the EU making it more directly accountable to the electors of Europe. However this could only be achieved by making it less accountable to national governments and effectively giving the EU parliament much more sovereignty and national parliaments practically none. 3 Leave the EU and join a free trade grouping of European countries. Such an organisation already exits, it's called EFTA (European Free Trade Area) EFTA and the EU together make up the EEA (European Economic Area). In order to be part of either the EEA or EFTA a member state has to implement either the same or similar rules to those that apply across the EU in areas of trade and immigration. In fact the only difference between being in EEA or EFTA and being in the EU is that EFTA countries have no vote or say in negotiations on what trade and immigration rules the EU decides. EFTA countries simply have the choice to either implement those rules or loose access to the EEA and EU markets. In affect a massive loss of sovereignty." You are wrong. Europe was the past. American is the present. The Far East is the future, particularly China. Europe is on fire because it has national debts that it cannot pay back. Europe is bankrupt. Why are we wasting our time talking about the loss of trade we will have with bankrupt Europe? A trade agreement with poor people does not matter. The Far East has the money, lets talk about trading with them instead. Lets leave Europe and concentrate on having trade agreements with countries that have money.

I don't see it as choice between Europe or the world. There is no reason why we can't trade with Europe and the rest of the world. The best method of trading within Europe is the EU. The best method of trading with the rest of the world is via free trade agreements with those countries. In most cases we are more likely to get the most favorable free trade agreements with those countries of the rest of the world by negotiating as part of a market of 500,000,000 than as a market of 65,000,000

UK companies have no problem trading outside the EU area at present if they want to. Look at JCB, it operates in 110 countries and only gets 17% of its revenue in the UK. It doesn't sound like being in the EU has stopped them from trading outside of the EU area.

In most cases we are more likely to get the most favorable free trade agreements with those countries of the rest of the world by negotiating as part of a market of 500,000,000 than as a market of 65,000,000 Tiny Iceland has a free trade agreement with china, but we and the rest of the EU don't. Maybe you should think again? Does it make in difference to who should think again that China is the EU's 2nd trading partner behind the United States and the EU is China's biggest trading partner? Britain and the EU does NOT have a FREE TRADE agreement with China or any other country outside the EU. "Ugh!!!.... The trade will never alter, no tariffs or tax increases will come, the flow of trade either way will never slow down. One thing will simply happen, we will no longer be in the EU. This will make 0 difference to the economy. To think Germany will cease to sell to one of its most profitable importers is simply scaremongering. To think that other trading blocks won't be eyeing this and thinking they can scoop up a powerful ally is ignoring the obvious. Oh and as simone who has spent over 10 years travelling, working and living in both the Far East and in particular china and the USA. You can't look to those areas of the world as the future. China is in for some serious challenges in the future, the USA going through a fair few now. The nations we should be looking to emulate are the Singapores of this world. A small nimble boat, that picks it's battles and charts it's own path. In the very near future the world will be one or possibly three trading blocs, that behave like one. And let's face it over the last few years the Europeans have proved they know nothing about economics." Apart from those countries that have managed their economies even better than the UK?

"So davids plans is to axe the Human Rights Act, not sure the peeps voting for him expected this? Wonder what other things he got in mind to bring this country to its knees. Britain is capable of having it's own version of the human rights act. We already do have are own version of the human rights (act) it's called The Human Rights ActYes as that's right. UK already got it. Tony Blair signed the UK up to The Human Rights Act. He did not have to do that because he could have just made his own up. This is what Cameron wants, but Nick Clegg did not allow him to do it. Theresa May and Cameron have been talking about a British Bill of Rights to replace the EU version. The public should be allowed to vote on adopting the British Bill of Rights." This is just totally and completely inaccurate. The Human Rights Act is a piece of British legislation. There is no European Human Rights Act. The Human Rights Act was introduced by Tony Blair to implement in British Law the European Human Rights Conversation protocols that Britain signed up to in 1950. NOTE THE YEAR AGAIN:- 1950. Long before we ever joined the EEC/EU. The Human Rights Act does not add any additional rights to those that all British Subjects/Citizens have had since 1950. What The Human Rights Act does do is give British Courts jurisdiction over human rights cases whereas previously those cases had to be taken to the European Court of Human Rights at great expense to the tax payer. Finally, even if we leave the EU and repeal The Human Rights Act Britain will still be bound by its treaty obligations, signed in 1950, to the Europe Court of Human Rights. I really think if you want to have your points taken seriously you should check your facts before posting.
