It works for Dennis the menace but sadly not for me - it's one of my molars - can barely get floss in there let alone string

Grind paracetamol directly onto the tooth that hurts, repeat every four hours!.

After a few days the pain will ease

I suffered the same with a tooth, co-codamol wasn't touching it ended up taking codeine and that just about worked.

Then had it pulled out, best decision ever !

I've already had one - have to wait 14 days to get my teeth (2 of them) out, earliest appointment available!!

Co codamol or clove , bit down on tablet on sore tooth . Should help or as other person said emergency appointment at your hospital . U not got G Dentists

Need all my wisdoms out and it killed me. Waking up in the night crying with pain. Not getting to sleep due to pain, becoming exhausted and sleeping only wake up a small while later in agony.

Euthymol toothpaste (it's bright pink!) Can be difficult to find but I've seen Tesco, Morrisons and Wilkos do them.

Orajel - can leave you mouth tasting of cloves when the numbness wears off. Don't get it on your lips for fucks sake... never did get the coffee stain out of that outfit! Tiny little tube sold in a box.

Corsodyl - swill it round for a minute or so. But don't do straight after you brush your teeth as it stops it working.

But the only thing that truly worked for me was to go through the emergency service and have the nerve taken out (costs about £18.80).

you poor thing! That's awful. My dentist wouldn't leave me in pain that long and the emergency dentist offered to take our daughters wisdom tooth out at 8p.m. one Friday evening. I hope you get some relief.

Just realised I've got some of that orajel somewhere - was given it for something else, but gotta be worth a try!!

I'm rather too far away for pulling it out ,,,,, your tooth I mean but I can recommend Orajel extra strength 20 % benzocaine from a chemist counter it's about £7 but it totally nummmmbs the area of your toothache especially if you have an exposed root or nerve ( oh and use only a small amount as it will numb your tongue too )

Have you tried clove oil?its only a temporary relief...is there a dental hospital near you?let the students have a poke around!

Boots/superdrug should have it, but you may have to ask the pharmacist. (They may keep it behind the counter)

In an emergency I have chewed on an actual clove. It tasted foul, and my entire mouth went numb, but it worked.

It's unlikely a and e will do any more than give you pain killers anyway. The emergency dentist wi probably be shut but try googling it. I have had a lot of dental problems in the past and the best thing you can do is ring your dentist in the morning for an emergency appointment if for some reason they can't see you ring the emergency dentist as soon as they open. Paramol only thing that kicks my pain ... Has a opiate in it so can make you drowsy but amazing.

Plus warm n cold flannels on side of face.

All the best. I have had 2 out for abscesses ... I grind my teeth n gums V soft n prone to infection

Nhs dentists have to offer 24/7 emergency service now, I understand. If its unbearable then contact them to get support.

Consider taking a range of pain killers at the same time, where each has a different mode of action. Eg, ibuprofen plus paracetamol plus codeine. All have very different modes of action, and an anti inflammatory like ibuprofen or aspirin may reduce some of the cause of the pain, is swelling, not the tooth.

Take no more than recommended dose and nothing that you have problems with.

Cloves can help the pain but never used this strong tasting option.

Good luck as tooth pain is horrific!

I was told A&E won't look at dentistry unless it's an accident / fight injury.

Try and get an emergency dentist appt so they can write a prescription for a strong pain killer like codeine.

I feel so sorry for you, toothache is hideous ~ hope you get it resolved soon.

Feel your pain mate I had a root canal that failed and could not get in the NHS dentist for days. There is no pain like it.

In the end I just went private was well worth the extra expense just to get rid of the pain. Plus the care I received was miles better. I almost bear hugged the dentist when he turned the pain off.

If you phone 111 and explain it to them they will sort you out an appointment at a walk in centre or urgent care centre to go to and they will give you pain killers to use until you are able to see your dentist again.

The only painkillers that dented my tooth pain was dihydrocodiene along with tramadol, they are prescription only although paramol does have dihydrocodiene in it but in a much lower dose so not much help at all for me.

I also took ibuprofen and paracetemol at the same time and the pain did lessen a bit .... all on doctor and dentists advice i hasten to add

Can't believe it took so long for someone to recommend ringing 111! Do it.

Your dentists should have same day appointments, too.

What toothpaste are you using? Try one for sensitive teeth.

This is going to sound odd but the tooth which is giving me jip is actually a baby tooth - there's no adult tooth beneath it, never has been - the other tooth coming out is also a baby tooth, which has an abcess!!

Can't wait to get rid of them tbh!! :/

Welcome to my world, I've had this toothache for a week. I went to the dentist last week, they said my wisdom tooth is erupting. Then yesterday went again, the wisdom tooth is now infected. So I got antibiotics and if that doesn't work I've got to go back to the dentist so they can refer me to the hospital, fun times!!!
