The french are out waving placards and causing mayhem re cuts from their government.

We are bieng accused as bieng sheep and rolling over because we will most likey just accept our fate...

Do we march to show that we dont agree or roll over and play dead ????

Not bad is it.

We get the announcement that the retirement age is going up to 66 and barely a murmur.

The French are fighting tooth and nail against a proposal to increase their retirement age to 62.

It just about sums up the state of this shabby nation and the pickle we are in.

Of course the big wigs who make these sensless decisions are on huge wages, make false claims etc.. it makes me sick

And I must add, a typical working hour week in France is 35 hours. Many people in Blighty are working 50 hour weeks, 60 hour weeks, some even longer still...

The thing is we can never compare ourselves with other country's, we need to get this dam excuse of a country sorted. lol

There has been many times at the hospital i have worked from 7am - 12/1am straight through.. its diabolical they are even considering making cuts especially in the emergency services. this will lead to stressed out staff, who will then go off sick and on sick pay. I cannot see that they are going to achieve anything.

(just my opinion)

It's not that simple if France you could retire at 60, but you didn't get a state pension until you where 65. So the want to add 2 years to both schemes, so you can retire at 62 but you will have to wait til your 67 to get the state pension!

... so what do we cut and where? We know some things have to go and the govt can't make people in the private sector redundant as they are not their employers.

well I am a teacher and to me they have been only noticeable by their absence since the erosion of our service began some 4 years back. Bit late for rallying the peeps now.

It may be but i do think we tend to lie and down and take it.

Maybe its time for some action if the majority of the country seem to be against what has been proposed.

I have many friends working in health and social care, as i did till march.

They are terrified that their jobs will go and there is sod all they can do about it.

The British often call the French but I wish we had their attitude.

Whenever they get dealt a bum hand,they're all up in arms and stand up for their beliefs,good on 'em!

The best part about it is their shows of solidarity usually make a difference too.

They've never lost that revolutionary state of mind,unlike the Brits,we've been under the cosh so long we just tug our forelocks and mutter into our pints while we get trodden on......again.

If only we had the backbone and spirit of the French we might get dumped on less too......"People Power" and all that!
