The continental system of no drink no drive is better, at least everybody knows where they stand. Rarely do we drink & drive but would only have 1 pint or 1 glass of wine. Some people I know say they're okay on 2 but everybody's different, age sex food consumed etc.

I'd rather see much tougher punishments for repeat offenders and those who are heavily over the current limit.

People half the current limit are not tge danger on our roads

Agreed. Those people who are completely d*unk are obviously going to have an accident. I can't even walk when I'm d*unk let alone drive a car.

What about the people who don't drink - like anything at all - and still crash their cars... What is their excuse?

If you have an accident anything that contributes to that accident could be construed as dangerous driving...I think. I do know that even if you are on a hands free phone when you have an accident it is classed as dangerous driving (or without due care and attention, one of these) which increases the penalties.

It's the one that really screams of arrogance, no alcohol would be best for clarity. Those miles over the limit should be seriously punished, and re take their tests etc I'd propose

Maybe d*unkards can get cheaper fares on taxis perhaps? What would your local council say to that? Just bill the local mp's I'm sure they've got enough in their pension funds to help out

i would support a zero alcohol limit on drivers plus massive penalties for drug driving ie ie cannabis cocaine etc and investigate further the effect of certain prescriptions ie. codeine tramadol.etc.while we are on the subject increase penalties for reckless driving ie racing which is a growing trend.think i should have been a dictator.!!

It is impossible to have a zero alcohol limit for driving as the human body produces alcohol as it processes food.

That said no one should drink any alcohol at least 11 hours before driving.

Can't be zero alcohol because many products and medicines use an alcohol base that would read as positive on a breath test.

I don't know if it would read in a blood test but the cost involved in testing everyone wouldn't be realistic.
